From the minute Talia Hunter popped up in Salem, it was obvious she was keeping secrets, and now DAYS spoilers have promised us another hint as to what exactly she is hiding. It didn’t take long for the show to reveal that Talia was the one who laced Chanel’s bakery’s biscuits with something akin to PCP or LSD.

Something that made them hallucinate that the person in front of them was really the person they wanted t to have sex with. (The reveal happened so quickly, we wondered why they even bothered to hide the terrorist’s face in the first place.) But why would Talia (Aketra Sevillian) do this?
DOOL Spoilers: Two Plus Two Make Four
No one in Salem knows — yet — that Talia is the one who slipped drugs into their food. But quite a few of them, most notably her big sister, Jada (Elia Cantu), are already curious as to why someone with a medical degree wants to work in a bakery. (Chanel [Raven Bowens] just assumes it’s because she’s so awesome. Everyone else remains confused.) We think we know why. And the answer is in the biscuits.

Who in America has more money than god? Pharmaceutical companies, that’s who. And what do pharmaceutical companies make? They make drugs. And how do pharmaceutical companies get their drugs approved? By testing them. Testing them on whom? Sure, animals…but also…people.

What if Talia was working with a pharmaceutical company to test a new drug? And she broke a couple — OK, a lot — of rules in the process? And that’s what cost her the medical license she’d worked so hard for. Sure, Talia can’t practice medicine anymore. But she can continue working for the pharmaceutical company.
