The DAYS spoilers recap for Friday, August 5, 2022, features a treasure hunt in the trash, a snake in the grass, and children learning a valuable life lesson: parents are fallible.
If Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) have any hope of exonerating the latter of a murder charge, then they’ve got to get proof that someone else, namely Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien), is, in fact, the guilty party. The couple obtains said proof — the Sarah mask that Gwen donned the night Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller) met her untimely end — then lose it.

A further blow to the sleuths is the fact that the mask wound up in the hands of Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), who in turn returned it to Gwen. She neither thanked him for his effort nor explained why she would feel the need to possess such a thing.
Paulina Price Carver (Jackée Harry) and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) both want the same thing — for Johnny to be with Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) — so they set about formulating a plan to make that a reality. Chanel overheard the two, and she did not thank them for their efforts.
In the face of the evidence, Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) conceded that Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) didn’t cause Abigail’s death — but she was still pretty peeved over the stunt he pulled with Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney). So peeved that she swore she wouldn’t even consider forgiving him unless he made a big gesture. Cut to Lucas announcing to his lawyer that he wants to plead guilty to kidnapping his ex!
It turns out that Alexander Neil Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) was the one who swooped in and bought that much-desired company out from under Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker), but Alex swears that he only did so in order to help his baby bro. Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) rewarded his nephew’s effort by giving him a job and dictating that he is to report only to him.
Chanel blasted her mother for conspiring with Johnny, and Paulina was forced to cop to some unconscious (conscious?) homophobia. But she more than made up for it, and harmony was once more restored.
