In the Days of our Lives recap for October 26, 2023, Xander uncovers Theresa’s entire scheme. Unfortunately, Alex pays him no heed.
In addition, Steve demands that Chad and Stephanie get on the same page, Sarah tries to bolster her chances of winning custody of Victoria Margaret, and Konstantin details his plan to Victor’s portrait. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
No sooner had Xander (Paul Telfer) ordered Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) to go at Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) with both barrels than Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) appeared to yell at him for being mean to her baby. Also, what is he thinking? Full custody? The nerve! Sarah’s a wonderful mother. Xander, however, wholeheartedly disagreed.
Sarah’s not wonderful in any way, shape, form, or fashion. She especially wasn’t wonderful when she tried to hide the fact that he was Victoria Margaret’s father. Come to think of it, Maggie was complicit in that mess. So much for the two of them having a real connection.

Maggie insisted that they did. That they still do. She felt awful for lying to him. (Not awful enough to tell him the truth, but awful all the same.) In fact, she actually pleaded with Sarah to tell him the truth. Time and time again. But in Sarah’s defense, Xander had reverted back to his scheming ways and they all believed his actions had caused an innocent woman’s death.
A chastened Xander apologized to Maggie. He shouldn’t have lost his temper and threw her shady behavior in her face. It’s really his bad. Xander then inquired as to how Maggie was coping post-Victor, and she sang Konstantin’s praises. Oh, how Konstantin has made life worth living. Xander was glad to hear that, his own troubles with the man notwithstanding.
Later, Xander came upon Theresa (Emily O’Brien) and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson). The latter was already ticked off and paranoid following an altercation with a turtle-loving activist group who threw something that looked like blood on him, so the last thing he needed was Alex’s “proper warning” that he was making a real mistake hanging out with Theresa.
Likewise, Theresa took exception to Xander maligning her character. Sure, she used to be a grade-A manipulator, but that was then, and this is now. And of course, she’s not after Alex’s newly inherited fortune. She’d already made a play for him before the will was read. “Unbelievably lucky,” hissed Xander. “Emphasis on unbelievably.”
What’s more, he’s not putting past Theresa to have had some “inside information” about what was coming down the pike. His best advice to Alex was, “Guard that fortune with your life.”
Given that her costume was an exact match to the one Abigail (Marci Miller) donned on her last Halloween, Stephanie (Abigail Klein) forwent dressing up. Still, she and “Count” Chad DiMera made a smashing couple. And Thomas (Carey Christopher) and Charlotte were thrilled to see her, so that was a bonus.
While the trio joined Marlena (Deidre Hall) in stuffing treat bags, Steve (Stephen Nichols) — despite being warned by Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) to keep his nose out — took Chad to the side. The gist of the conversation: Chad and Stephanie need to get on the same page pronto.
Chad might not be ready to get remarried anytime soon, and Stephanie may be saying she’s fine with that, but her actions tell a different story. So, it remained for Chad to put Stephanie on the spot. Was she telling him the truth? Was she really fine with not getting married? GULP!
Off a conversation with Konstantin (who’s as put off by Xander as she is), Sarah headed to University Hospital and begged Kayla for a job. She’s got to do everything in her power to look like the best possible parent for her daughter. And with her situation so precarious, showing the court that she’s gainfully employed will go a long way. Luckily for Sarah, Dr. Hunter just resigned. And Kayla and Tripp (Lucas Adams) can’t run the show just the two of them.
Back at the Kiriakis mansion, having explained to Victoria Margaret in sing-song that her namesake was “one horrible son of a bitch,” Konstantin welcomed Maggie home. Here’s hoping she was up for a surprise!
And boy was Konstain’s gift surprising. A fresh portrait of Victor, suitable for hanging over the mantle. Overcome with emotion, Maggie excused herself. While awaiting her return, Konstantin crowed to the creation that he intended to fleece Maggie for every penny she inherited.
