In the Days of our Lives recap for August 11, 2023, the fractured Kiriakis family comes together (minus Brady, who couldn’t be bothered) in order to boost their patriarch’s spirits. Unfortunately, there’s bad news for all.
In addition, good friends Chloe and Belle (Martha Madison) clashed, Stephanie and Chad (Billy Flynn) got to the root of the latter’s issues, and Rex popped the question to Sarah. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
The Kiriakis mansion was a flutter with activity as the final touches were being made for Victor’s lavish welcome home party…but the lady of the house had other matters to attend to, namely, informing Bonnie (Judi Evans) that she’d been apprised of everything. And by everything, Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) meant everything.
She knows that Sarah isn’t actually in a romantic relationship with Rex, she knows that Sarah is pregnant, and she knows that Xander (Paul Telfer) is the father of the baby. And she’s not happy. Not one little bit. Bonnie couldn’t help but concur.

Elsewhere, Justin (Wally Kurth) corralled Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) into attending the soirée in Victor’s honor — but only after he assured his son that Maggie had personally asked that he be invited. Before departing for the manse, the men dove into the void that is Alex’s dating life and the mess he may or may not have made for Stephanie and Chad.
Over at the town square, cousins Xander and Brady (Eric Martsolf) squared up over the former’s revelation that he’d proposed to Chloe. Not that she’d said yes, but she is mulling it over. But Xander’s undeterred. As he explained to Brady, he fully intends “to make Chloe Lane Chloe Cook.”
Of course, Brady was far from congratulatory. Instead, he opined that Xander’s proposal had a whole lot less to do with being in love with Chloe and a whole lot more to do with Gwen (Emily O’Brien) marrying Dimitri (Peter Porte) and Sarah beginning things anew with Rex. Xander disagreed…strenuously.
Slowly but surely, the Kiriakis clan gathered — except for Brady, who called Maggie with his apologies — and Alex and Maggie took the opportunity to make up, something which pleased them both.
Rather than be pleasant to Xander, Justin excused himself to call the airfield to ascertain whether or not Victor’s plane had landed. The answer he received was concerning. Victor’s plane is missing!
Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) and Belle ran into one another outside the Brady Pub, and the latter filled the former in on Brady losing custody of Rachel (Finley Rose Slater) to Kristen (Stacy Haiduk). When expressed the hope that Brady could count on Chloe to be there for him, Chloe expressed reservations. After all, they’re no longer together, and she’s coupled up with Xander.
When Belle stooped to disparaging Xander and calling his ability to commit into question, Chloe relayed that he’d proposed to her. Belle took great exception to this, and Chloe took great exception to Belle’s exception. Hurtful words were exchanged, past sins were brought up and rubbed in faces, and Chloe reminded her that she was “a grown-ass woman” capable of making her own decisions. Luckily, in the end, friendship won out.
An indignant Chad demanded an explanation for Stephanie (Abigail Klein) dousing him with wine, and she was all too happy to provide it. Chagrined that she knew he threatened Alex to stay away, Chad swore that he’d just been about to come clean himself. “Easy to say now that you’re busted,” huffed Stephanie.
Chad endeavored to explain, and he so easily threw Alex and EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) under the bus for, respectively, breaking their gentlemen’s agreement and advising him (Chad) to live life by the mantra WWSD (What Would Stefano Do?).
Stephanie, however, wasn’t interested in anybody else but Chad. What the Hell was wrong with him? Why did he go behind her back and try to manipulate her life? Chad granted that he’d acted like a possessive jerk and profusely apologized. Can Stephanie forgive him, or are they done?
No, of course, they’re not done. But Stephanie still wanted an explanation. And a good one. So, Chad played the dead wife card and boo-hooed that she was the first woman he’d allowed in after Abigail. He also promised that he never go behind her back again. Never. That cooled Stephanie’s ire and stoked her libido. Off to the bedroom!
Meanwhile, somewhere in Chicago, Rex (Kyle Lowder) floated the idea of him and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) getting married. That way, he’d have legal rights to her baby, which might keep Xander from putting two and two together. Sarah was…not at all enamored by the idea. But Rex pressed on.
