The DAYS recap for Monday, November 28, 2022, saw the ramblings of a drunk man dismissed, several confidences shared, and a miracle being pulled off.
In this episode, a very much alive Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) made her presence known, but when EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) tried to warn the masses — well, his brothers, anyway — he was summarily rebuked. Elsewhere, Sarah Horton Cook (Linsey Godfrey) got Xander Cook’s (Paul Telfer) number…and a metaphorical pie in the face courtesy of Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien), Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) declared all’s well between him and his eldest, and Alexander Neil Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) showed some personal growth by quitting while he was ahead. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Having pawned his kids off on Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux (sometimes Melissa Reeves, sometimes Cady McClain) — whom you’d think would be focusing solely on her recovery rather than concentrating her efforts on playing nanny — Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn), returned to Salem solo with the intention of checking on EJ.
Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) met his younger brother — or cousin or whatever relation they might be; it’s complicated — and filled him on some facts that aren’t common knowledge, namely that EJ compounded his and Ava’s feud by kidnapping Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams). Oh, and would Chad mind keeping that to himself? Tony wouldn’t want that getting out to the general public, especially to Rafe Dudley Do Right Hernandez (Galen Gering).

The brothers’ convo was interrupted by a phone call from Rafe — fancy that; were his ears burning? — who told them that EJ was out on Old Decatur Road (the sight of Susan Banks’s [Stacy Haiduk] death) drowning his sorrows.
Off Tony and Chad set, and in a bad way, they find EJ because…well, more on that below.
Old Decatur Road: Night. A soused EJ is confronted by a ghost from his not-too-distant past: Ava! But wait! Ava’s not dead…or so she says. But Susan sure is, Ava saw to that. Also, she’s got a gun, and she wants to reunite EJ and his mother.
A struggle ensues, a bullet is fired, and the next thing that EJ knows he’s looking up at Chad and Tony and trying to convince them that Ava is alive and well.
The truth, the whole, truth, and nothing but the truth, that’s all that Sarah wants from Xander, but he’s not exactly forthcoming. And no, he definitely did not kidnap Susan and Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans). Well, he did, but he’s not going to tell Sarah that.
In an effort to prove her theory that her man had fallen back into his old bad ways, Sarah went hunting for a website that she felt sure didn’t exist…but it did. But how? How can a nonexistent pharmaceutical startup have a website? And a pretty convincing one as well? Turns out Xander has a guardian angel…Gwen!
Speaking of Gwen, her day went from better to best. First, Jack praised her for her journalistic integrity (huh?), then he practically demanded that she resume calling him Dad because…well, gosh darn it, he’s just so proud of her. Xander called her, and she spilled her quickie web-making skills, and he was pleased as punch!
Stephanie Johnson’s (Abigail Klein) date with Alex came to a screeching halt when Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) walked in and saw fit to burden them with Sarah’s theory that Xander was Bonnie and Susan’s captor.
After debating the merits of that, and convincing Maggie she doesn’t have anything to worry about (yeah, right), the young couple decided to part ways…for now. Good second date!
