The DAYS recap for Thursday, November 17, 2022, is full of pleas, pleas, and nothing but pleas. Pleas for the ultimate revenge, for reason, for some peace and damn quiet.
In this episode, “Charlie” (Mike Manning) ups the stakes, Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) gains the upper hand – thanks entirely to an assist from the spouses Johnson – and Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) rightfully smells a rat. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
To say that the specter of Ava’s dead son – the one that’s been plaguing for weeks now – doesn’t have her best interests at heart would be an understatement.
First, it drilled into Ava’s head the possibility that Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) and her beloved Patch (Stephen Nichols) had met their untimely end, and when that proved unwarranted – details to follow – it balked at her plan to ransom Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) for a measly $30 million. What lesson would that teach a man like EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel)?
If Ava really wanted to make him suffer, to make him pay for her humiliation, she’d hit him where it hurts. She’d MURDER his beloved ‘mummy!’
With nothing more to go on then a matchbook for a seedy Seattle dive, Steve and Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) patronized the establishment – he in his enforcer best; she channeling Victoria Gotti at her gaudiest – and laid a beatdown on an uncooperative bartender. Who did he think he was, telling ‘Ava Vitali’ to kick rocks?

In the end, the couple hit paydirt – and off to Tripp’s rescue they flew. The boy was grateful, really, he was. Still, he’d really like an explanation for what the adults were wearing.
Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis (Judi Evans) had a warning for her and Susan’s captor: her husband was coming for her, and boy would ‘Chuckles’ be made to feel sorry once she was recused. Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) might not have, “a special set of skills,” but he’s dangerous when he’s mad – and harm befalling his lady love would make him real mad. Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) wasn’t much cowed.
He also wasn’t much looking forward to filling Ava in on the necessity that was kidnapping Bonnie. As expected, Ava gave him Hell. What was he thinking? Using his family’s summer garden shed as a base of operation?! That’s about as dumb as hiding out in a mausoleum hosting her enemy’s dead relatives…on her enemy’s property.
Speaking of EJ, he wasn’t too thrilled with Tony DiMera’s (Thaao Penghlis) and Anna Fredricks DiMera’s (Leann Hunley) attempts to get him to see reason. No, he didn’t want to free Tripp to show some good faith, and no he wouldn’t be made to feel bad for escalating his and Ava’s war. Also, he took serious exception to Anna taking exception over his kidnapping, “that decent, wonderful, sexy,” Dr. Tripp – he’d treated her imaginary carpal tunnel so gently after all.
Glad as a returning Justin was to see Alexander Neil Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson), and as interested in his son’s love life as he is, he desperately wanted to see Bonnie.
When apprised of her supposed decampment to Chicago, Justin investigated. Sure enough, it was a tissue of lies – or, a text of lies as the case may be.
And while Justin and Alex launched a search, Bonnie bided her time conversing with Susan, telepathically of course; they’re both still tied up and gagged.
