The DAYS recap for Tuesday, November 1, 2022, proves that unreasonable haste is indeed the direct road to error. Who knew that soaps could be so deep and philosophical?
In this episode, Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) pocketbook — not to mention EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) taunts — sways Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) back to the dark side and Alexander Neil Kiriakis’s (Robert Scott Wilson) chivalrous act sways Stephanie Johnson’s (Abigail Klein) opinion. Also, Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) and Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) clear up any and all confusion between them, and Sarah Horton Cook (Linsey Godfrey) adjusts to a life that she is not at all accustomed to. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
After trying and failing to force Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) into admitting that he’s out to get him, EJ heads out to conduct business — probably of the unsavory kind — and collect some sweet treats from Sweet Bits bakery.
While on his jaunt, EJ crosses with Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) who’s sitting back-to-back with a disguised Ava who is, in turn, trying her damndest to convince Xander to join her anti-EJ crusade.
In light of his beloved Sarah putting so much stock in his reformation, Xander readies to blow Ava right out of the water, but EJ won’t let him get a word in edgewise. He’s too concerned with pointing out all of Xander’s shortcomings; and after Xander spent all those months feeding him scones and marathoning Down-town Abby.

Now ready to wipe that smug, self-satisfied smile off EJ’s face, Xander decides to throw in with Ava and help her accomplish her goal of revenge — but he’s not exactly sold on the plan which necessitates him kidnapping Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) and holding her prisoner in a location yet to be determined until such times as EJ pays a buttload in ransom. Good thing that what Sarah doesn’t know won’t hurt her.
Speaking of Susan, she’s had a chat with the spirits, and they’ve told her to tell Johnny that love and romance are just around the corner for him. That sounds well and good to Johnny, but who could fate have in store for him? It’s not like he knows any girls outside of his ex-wife — who is very much out of the running considering that she’s dating his twin sister — and that Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace), and she couldn’t be interested in him…could she?
To hear Wendy tell it, there’s nothing between her and Johnny and there never will be. Sure, she likes him, but only as a person. She doesn’t “like” like him, and that’s music to Chanel’s ears, just as it’s comforting for Wendy to know that Chanel isn’t interested in extending Wendy an invitation to join her and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) in their boudoir. Glad that’s all sorted!
Mission very much accomplished! That much-prized folder containing the information that Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) was holding over Paulina Price Carver (Jackée Harry) and Chanel’s heads is now in Paulina’s custody, a fact which not only earned Stephanie Paulina’s praise but earned her old job back. As for Chanel, she was more than delighted to know that that bad, bad thing she did way back when will never see the light of day.
Maggie Horton (Suzanne Rogers) isn’t a class snob, but the former farm woman does have a problem with her daughter and son-in-law making their home in a no-tell motel that hosts cockroaches the size of cocker spaniels and features such trappings as an end table with, “I hope you die,” carved into its top. Is it any wonder that she insists, nay demands that Sarah take a big fat check from her to use as she sees fit? Besides, what Xander doesn’t know won’t hurt him.
Big and tough Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) sauntered into the Kiriakis mansion poised to ensure that Stephanie wouldn’t be given her walking papers at Titan and was immediately informed that his bravado was all for naught — Stephanie’s job was safe, and it was all thanks to Alex. That really got Chad’s goat.
Equally galling was Stephanie making her presence known — after she’d stood outside and eavesdropped on Alex making insinuations that Chad was enamored of Stephanie and being sorely rebuffed — and practically dismissing him so that she could speak with Alex privately. Good thing Chad was long gone by the time Stephanie invited Alex out to a thank-you dinner for two.
