The DAYS recap for Wednesday, December 7, 2022, sees a wife thwart her own ambition for the sake of her husband and a saint setting off on the road to ruin.

DAYS Recap Highlights

In this episode, Paulina Price Carver (Jackée Harry) beat Abe Carver (James Reynolds) in the race to resign from their respective posts. Elsewhere, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) got the wrong end of the stick where Nicole Walker Soon-To-No-Longer-Be-Hernandez (Arianne Zucker) and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) were concerned, while Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) got down to the important business of insulting their exes. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Days of our Lives Recap: Public Opinion

The people of Salem have been talking, especially those who hold higher office, and the consensus is that Abe should resign as mayor posthaste. Abe is very much at peace with that. Paulina, not so much.

In fact, Paulina so strenuously objects to her man being forced out — and this in spite of the fact that Abe previously planned to give it all up in order to join Paulina in the governor’s manse — that when Abe sets about phoning City Council President Cass Winthrop — yes, we’re assuming that it is indeed that Cass Winthrop — she snatches the device out of his hand and tenders her own resignation! Abe isn’t much pleased by the turn of events. Paulina’s pretty chill.

DOOL Recap: Explanation Warranted

The last thing that Johnny expected to spy when he entered Grandma Susan’s (Stacy Haiduk) bedroom was Nicole and EJ in a state of undress, with their hands around one another. How could they do this….to Rafe…and surrounded by Susan’s belongings? It’s absolutely disgusting!

But wait, cry the adults who’ve been acting more like children than the children they actually have. They haven’t gotten up — or is it down? — to any hanky panky, promise, cross their hearts. Nicole is merely EJ’s guest, and he hopes future tenant. Okay, sighs Johnny. He believes them.

Once Nicole takes her leave of the father and son duo, Johnny — who apparently doesn’t have anything better to do — once again takes EJ to task for being privy to Dr. Wilhelm Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) brainwashing of Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash). EJ once again makes excuses, and Johnny once again eats them up…but he’s still not happy about it! Later on, the doorbell rang, and when EJ answered it, he got quite the shock! You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out who shocked him though.

DAYS Recap: The Beginning Of A Beautiful Something

Things are looking decidedly up for Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) until their not. And then, lo and behold, a miracle! After hiring Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) as his lawyer — Boo! Hiss! Everyone hates her, Belle Black Brady (Martha Madison) included — the former clergyman is thunderstruck to learn that, despite EJ dropping the assault charges, he’s still very much on the hook. Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) — Boo! Hiss! Everyone hates her, Belle included — wants to ensure his prosecution for laying hands on a cop, even though Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) doesn’t want to testify. Leave it to me, declares Sloan.

One phone call to the woman to whom Sloan handed, “two career-making cases” results in Eric’s immediate release from custody and nets Sloan an invitation to breakfast. How can she pass up dining with a man who looks like Eric?

Plus, they have so much in common. She was lied to by someone she loved and trusted, he was lied to by people he loved and/or really liked and trusted. It’s really the stuff that great relationships are built on. Nicole happened upon the duo and needless to say, she did not like what she saw.

Days of Our Lives Recap: Brunch

Speaking of people with loads in common…Rafe and Jada made a morning out of bad-mouthing Nicole and Eric until the latter finally decided that wallowing and bitching wasn’t going to do her a world of good. Instead, she was going to shape up and get herself back to work. Rafe was pleased. He needs good coppers like Jada.

DOOL Recap: Catchup

In need of someone to commiserate with, Johnny hightailed it over to the apartment shared by Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold), Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens), and Wendy. Chanel was the only one that was home, and she helpfully distracted her former husband from his troubles by sharing hers.
