The DAYS recap for Friday, December 22, 2022, gives credence to the lyrics, “careful the things you say/children will listen/careful the things you do/children will see.”
DAYS Recap Highlights
In this episode, wee Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher) seriously complicated Gwen Rizczech’s (Emily O’Brien) and Xander Cook’s (Paul Telfer) lives. Elsewhere, several returnees bolstered the ranks at Horton House, and the family Christmas tree was trimmed with care. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Days of our Lives Recap: Out Of The Mouths Of Babes
Gwen wanted to spend her Christmas Eve tee heeing on the phone with her good buddy Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), but she made the mistake of mentioning that Xander owed her one — and big-time — within earshot of curious Thomas, so she had to spend it desperately trying to convince the lad not to repeat what he’d heard. And besides, he wouldn’t want to let Sarah Horton Cook (Paul Telfer) know that Gwen had to, um, help Xander pick out Sarah’s present, now would he?

Try though he might, Thomas just couldn’t help but allow the little tidbit to slip out, and it might not have been so egregious if the item Xander purchased for his missus — and must now claim Gwen had a hand in choosing — wasn’t sexy lingerie. How Sarah’s mind is reeling.
DOOL Recap: Celebration Station
Much to Julie Williams’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) disappointment, Horton House is quiet — until it isn’t. In quick succession, in walks Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) — clutching a twin in each arm — and Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux (Cady McClain) fresh from her stint in rehab and a quick visit with the dearly departed Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller). Now it’s starting to look a lot like Christmas!
DAYS Recap: Ruh Roh
Though he ended the night well and truly in the metaphorical doghouse, Xander got quite the morale booster when he was presented with his own, personalized ornament to hang on the Horton Christmas tree, and it was explained to him that his apparently saintly in-laws were actually sinners of the highest order — Bill Horton was a rapist, Mickey Horton’s jealousy caused a mental imbalance that almost resulted in fratricide, Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) is a reformed con artist, etc.
It still didn’t feel exactly right adding his bauble beside Sarah’s and baby Mickey’s, but Xander managed to power through much to Sarah and Maggie Horton Kiriakis’s (Suzanne Rogers) delight.
DOOL Recap: Tradition
One by one, or in groups designed by romantic pairings, the assembled, blended Horton/Kiriakis/Deveraux/DiMeras added their ornaments — and the ornaments of absent loved ones — to the tree until it was awash with brightly colored, monogrammed balls. Yes, it really is starting to feel a lot like Christmas.
Days of our Lives Recap: From Beyond
His grief has slowly but surely given way to melancholy, Chad solemnly reflected on life without Abby — and who should appear before him but the woman herself? Abby knows that she’s missed and that she’s loved, and she appreciates that. But what she wants most of all is for Chad to go on living, to experience joy again, to let it back into his life again. He promises to try.
