The DAYS recap for Tuesday, December 20, 2022, continues a night that’s best forgotten and sees two women driven to the edge.
DAYS Recap Highlights
In this episode, Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) hallucinations land her a top spot at Salem’s premiere mental health facility. Elsewhere, Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) scrambled to save his bacon, Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) extended Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) an invitation of shelter, and Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis’s (Judi Evans) Post Traumatic Stress worsened. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Days of our Lives Recap: Blame Game
Though still in charge of enough of her faculties to warn Xander that he’ll be well and truly screwed if he doesn’t engineer a way to get her out of Salem, Ava begins a quick descent into madness. Everywhere she turns, there’s “Charlie” (Mike Manning), the bane of her existence, the Devil on her shoulder.
“Charlie,” the one who drove Ava to commit all her wicked deeds. To kidnap and ransom Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk), to go for her blood, and to egg Ava on when it came to blowing the assemblage at St. Luke’s to Kingdom Come. It was all “Charlie” — all the time.

Those claims earn Ava a one-way ticket to Bayview. Luckily, she has decent and loyal Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) by her side. He’ll see that she’s done right by.
DOOL Recap: Up To No Good
Speaking of luck, Xander has got it in spades. Not only will no one pay Ava any heed were she to start shouting that Xander was her accomplice all along, but on the off chance that some did, he has Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) standing on the sidelines ready, willing, and able to offer him whatever assistance he may need.
DAYS Recap: Moving Day
Equally lucky, is Gwen’s bestie, Leo, who she just so happened to have shared drinks with. Sure, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) didn’t see fit to hire him at The Spectator to gossip and speculate, and yes, he is getting evicted from the Bates Motel that he’s been calling home lo these many months, but Leo doesn’t have anything to worry about. Thanks to Sonny, who happened to have stopped by that same watering hole with his brother, Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson), he’s now got a cushy new address: the Kiriakis manse!
DOOL Recap: Talk It Out
Like Ava before, Bonnie can’t stop seeing things — but rather than the specter that is Charlie, the one constant in Bonnie’s line of sight is clowns. Well, one particularly menacing harlequin.
Instead of her loving hubby, BAM, clown! One minute she’s enjoying a post-dinner chuckle with her stepsons, and the next, BAM, two clowns for the price of one!
Sarah Horton Cook (Linsey Godfrey) had long back diagnosed Bonnie with PTSD, but Bonnie wouldn’t give that due consideration until Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) pointed out that, yeah, that might be what’s ailing his wife. Perhaps she’d like to speak to Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall) about it all? Maybe? Possibly?
