In the Days of our Lives recap for November 2, 2023, EJ’s wedding day ended in disaster thanks to brother Stefan’s best-laid plan.
In addition, Holly told a whopper of a lie, a stung Li vowed revenge, and Eric was forced to admit an inconvenient truth. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) hilariously trashed the tastes of a pregnant woman — and went a little too far in trying to convince Chad (Billy Flynn) he’d never heard of a “pig in a blanket.”
At the same time, Nicole (Arianne Zucker) checked in with a clearly disgruntled Eric (Greg Vaughan). He congratulated her on her upcoming wedding, and she joked that she and EJ decided to get married before the baby arrived. Any second now. Ha, ha, ha! There is a problem, though, namely Holly’s (Ashley Puzemis) lack of enthusiasm.

It’s not so much that her daughter doesn’t like EJ. It’s just that…well… “It seems that Holly has been holding out hope, all this time, you know, for you and me. That we would find out way back to each other.”
That affected Eric greatly, but Nicole insisted that everything would be fine. Since she was happy, Eric was happy for her. He had to ask if she really loved EJ, or was this all for the baby’s benefit? Nicole granted that she and EJ have a “long history…most of it pretty bleak,” but she’s sure that they are finally, finally seeing each other clearly. Her man is far from perfect, but so is she.
Still, Eric pressed. If she hadn’t gotten pregnant or if the baby had turned out to be his, would she be marrying EJ today? “Probably not.” But, the baby is EJ’s (or so they all think), and she’s finally going to give birth to a healthy child, so that’s probably a sign that she and EJ were meant to be.
Nicole then inquired about Eric and Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) and their quest to adopt. Any progress on that front? Some…but it’s taking a while. Nicole suggested things would look better for the pair once they were hitched, and Eric agreed. Nicole was happy that he was happy.
Eric swung by Marlena’s office for a chat. He was there, ostensibly to talk about Belle (Martha Madison), but mother knew better. After some gently prodding, Eric admitted that, had Nicole’s baby turned out to be his, he could have reconciled with her “in a heartbeat.” But that was then, and this is now.
What Eric wanted from his mother was some tips to put Nicole in his rearview mirror so he could move on. Marlena’s best advice was to look inside himself and figure out what he really wanted.
Speaking of love confessions, at the DiMera mansion, Holly “confessed” to a prying Johnny (Carson Boatman) that the “man of her dreams” was his father! But it’s just a silly, stupid crush, and she’ll totally get over it. Even if EJ is good-looking, British, rich, and living it up in a mansion. Mr. Darcey he may seem, but Mr. Darcey he isn’t. Johnny, for his part, refused to judge. That’s not the kind of thing that big brothers do.
Having been warned against calling the police, Li (Remington Hoffman) resolved to track down imperiled Gabi (Camila Banus) himself. But before he could proceed, Li was stopped in his tracks by Rolf (Richard Wharton).
The mad doctor claimed to be Megan’s (Miranda Wilson) emissary and relayed that she needed Li’s help in consolidating her power base at DiMera Enterprises. And, as for Gabi, she was Megan’s prisoner and leverage to use against Stefan (Brandon Barash). The plan? Exchange his wife for Stefan’s shares in DiMera.
But Li had a part to play in this, too…just like the part he played in brainwashing Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) to kill Stefan. Oh, that.
Li huffed that he’d come to accept that his actions were wrong, depraved, and criminal. What’s more, he’s going to therapy in order to learn how to let go of his unhealthy relationship with Gabi. Rolf was less than impressed. Ditto Gabi, who then burst in to reveal that she’d tricked Li. Every incriminating word he just spoke had been recorded.
Now, he had a choice to make. He could pick Option A) Gabi takes the recording to her brother. You know, the one who’s furious that Li got away with his crimes or Option B) Sign his DiMera’s shares over to her and Stefan. Li decided that the latter was far more appealing, but after doing what Stefan and Gabi asked of him — and throwing them out of his apartment — he vowed to make the two of them pay.
Back at the DiMera mansion, EJ and Nicole donned their wedding finery and took their places. Despite a moment’s hesitation on the bride’s part, the vows were spoken, and the rings exchanged, and the two declared husband and wife.
Enter Stefan and Gabi to complain that they’d not been invited to the party and to gleefully explain to EJ that he was fired!
