Alex Kiriakis Learns He’s Not The Worst Ever Since Kayla’s Alive

On today’s Days of our Lives, Alex Kiriakis’s day went from bad to good to even better once he learned that Kayla Johnson is among the many Salemites whose death was greatly exaggerated.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve (Stephen Nichols) debated their predicament, and Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) debated their romantic prospects. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Alex Kiriakis Is Off The Proverbial Hook

Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) shocked Gwen (Emily O’Brien) by appearing at her door at midday with the hope that she’d let him in to vent about his “infuriating relative.” Sure that he was speaking about Xander (Paul Telfer), Gwen ushered him in and insisted that she was “all ears.”

But it wasn’t Xander that Alex had come to grouse about, it was Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) — “the boss from Hell.”

Alex went on to recount how he’d very nearly gotten his hands on the fabled, ailment-curing “Chorvat prisms” before his aunt shut him down and shut him down hard. “Vintage Maggie!” What’s worse is that the contraption is now primed to wind up in the wrong hands and be used for “God knows what.”

Gwen granted that she understood her bedmate’s dilemma. After all, she’d never understood why Victor saw fit to install Maggie as Chief Executive Officer of Titan given that “she doesn’t seem very bright” and her “experience” seems to stem from running a restaurant and bossing servants around.

She then suggested that what Titan truly needed was the energy and business sense that Alex could bring, but he, in turn, complained that Maggie was just dying to replace him — with Xander, of all people. And he’s pretty sure that Xander would jump at the opportunity. “What better way to punish me for taking his place in your bed than taking my place in the boardroom.”

Speaking of Xander, Gwen had her own bone to pick, namely his seeming interest in one Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin). That one threw Alex for a loop.

However, it was nothing compared to hearing Stephanie (Abigail Klein) and Chad (Billy Flynn) — who, thanks entirely to Maggie, had acquired a list of all of Victor’s holdings/personal properties in Greece — discussing her mother in present terms.

Alex delighted in hearing that Kayla was indeed alive, as that meant he didn’t actually deprive his former lover of the chance to say goodbye to her.

DAYS Recap: Captive Audience

Opposite this, Kayla tenderly tended to Steve’s head wound and listened as he recounted his violent tussle with Bo (Peter Reckell).

In response, Kayla explained that Bo had been brainwashed by Rolf (Richard Wharton) on Megan Hathaway’s (Miranda Wilson) orders and that the procedure had left him a shell of his former self.

Steve inquired as to whether or not Bo was working in tandem with Thomas Banks, only for Kayla to reveal that Megan had pulled a fast one on her captors. What’s more, the villainess probably only did so because she “didn’t want to give Hope the satisfaction of knowing that Bo was alive.”

Oh, Bo. How upset Kayla was to see him tapping into his Kiriakis roots. Luckily Steve was on hand to soothe her with the pronouncement that it was love that got through to him and John (Drake Hogestyn) when they’d been conditioned against their will and that it would be love that would get through to Bo. The love of his sister, his best friend, his wife, and his kids. He’d feel their love and come back to them.

Kayla and Steve Johnson try to keep their spirits up.

Brady Bemoans The State Of His And Chloe’s Love Affair

Brady was less than pleased to find Chloe playing darts with Xander at the Brady Pub, and became more so when he learned that Chloe had confided her Rachel (Finley Rose Slater) related woes to his kin, and Xander congratulated Chloe for standing up to Brady’s “spiteful daughter.”

“You are shallow. And you are insensitive, all right? And you don’t know what the Hell it’s like to be a parent, so don’t talk like you do,” Brady said, adding, “You don’t even know how to be a decent human being Xander.”

Xander pondered if his cousin would like a black eye to match the one he recently gave Alex and termed him an “arrogant ass who thinks he’s God’s gift to the world. Who fathered a child with a sadistic psychopath.”

Chloe refereed the men and agreed to speak with Brady in private, only to be surprised by his intent to fix things between them. She didn’t find that prospect at all possible. Not as long as Rachel felt about her as she does.

“What are you saying? Because of this issue with my daughter, you just want to give up on [us]?” blubbered Brady. Chloe didn’t have a real answer to provide.

Slinking back to the home that he shares with John and Marlena (Deidre Hall), Brady turned to his sage, ever-loving stepmother, who agreed to try and make inroads with Rachel on his behalf. Her first attempt was not a success.

DOOL Recap: Green-Eyed Monster

Back at the pub, Xander shared his hard-earned philosophy on relationships — when you reach the “point of no return,” it’s better to let go rather than desperately cling — cheekily opinioned that he was much better-looking, more intelligent, broader-shouldered, wittier, and wiser than Brady and with a charming accent to boot, and really rather cheered Chloe up.

Gwen caught sight of the two chums hanging out, bristled, then sauntered over to pointedly declare them “Salem’s hottest new couple.”

Gwen Rizczech gets an eyeful of Xander and Chloe being chummy.
