Lindsay Arnold has barely been on the job two weeks as Allie Horton, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) and Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) teenage daughter. However, the young actress has already made quite an impression in her first soap role. How good is the Days of our Lives actress? Let’s rate the daytime newcomer.
So far, so good. Arnold has easily acclimated to her Salem family, and them to her. She’s totally believable as Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) sweet niece, Lucas’s wayward daughter, and Grandma Kate’s (Lauren Koslow) pride and joy. You can feel the genuine love and affection between all of them.
Allie’s instant friendship with Nicole (Arianne Zucker), who listens and gets her, is a bonus. The real test will be Arnold’s rapport with Alison Sweeney, once she joins the mix as Allie’s mom, Sami. Their relationship is sure to be combative and filled with fireworks, and if what Arnold’s done so far is any indication, she should be able to deliver.
Let’s face it, the material Lindsay Arnold has been given has been complex and complicated. Her alter ego hit the ground running, secretly fleeing Europe as a pregnant teen and flying to the States solo. From day one, she’s had to deliver in a medium that is super fast with no room for error, all while driving a front-burner plot. Arnold’s nailed every aspect of it, and never seemed flustered or ill at ease in any scene. It’s hard to believe this is her first big role, but it is.
As far as the sides of Allie Horton, Arnold has had to convey many in her short time on the soap – rebellious daughter, confused teen, scared mother-to-be, vulnerable little girl – the young actress has excelled with all of them and already proven she’s a natural crier, shedding her first tears easily and believably. Arnold is the whole package, and DAYS is lucky to have landed her for this pivotal role. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
