Ava, with Harris in tow, escaped the mental institution where she was being held on Days of our Lives. She found Susan, still alive, and helped to reunite her with her beloved son EJ. Now, Ava figures she’ll be sent back to the hospital. But does she deserve to be?
No, Ava (Tamara Braun) shouldn’t be in a psychiatric facility, 6% dismissed. She should be in jail. So, OK, so Susan (Stacy Haiduk) isn’t dead. But that’s just a fluke. Everything that happened prior to Susan walking away from a fiery crash without so much as a boo-boo still happened. Ava still kidnapped her. Ava still drove off in the car and she still flew that car off a cliff. Those are still crimes.
So, fine, so it isn’t murder anymore. Now it’s kidnapping and attempted murder – maybe even reckless disregard for human life. But they’re still crimes. That requires time served in a prison. Without Harris (Steve Burton) around to break her out on a whim.
Even if Susan still walks among the living, Ava hasn’t finished her treatment at Bayview, 38% remind. Susan’s death may have contributed to Ava seeing things, but it wasn’t the sole cause. Even before Charlie died, Ava was a basket case. She’s needed psychiatric treatment for a long time, and as long as she keeps evading responsibility for her crimes, she’s also evading the help she needs to get well.
Ava knows she’s sick, 56% point out. She’s taken responsibility for her past actions and she wants to make sure her future ones are more upstanding. Ava misses being around Tripp (Lucas Adams), sure. But she also knows he deserves a sane and not homicidal mother. Ava wants to get well for Tripp more than she wants it for herself. And she knows she might not be ready to re-enter Salem life again. So back to Bayview she goes!
