Peter Reckell Experiences Deep And Personal Loss

Former Days of Our Lives star Peter Reckell has lost one of his closest loved ones and sends his thanks his friends, fans, and family for all their well wishes.

The beloved actor just lost his mother and tweeted the news on Tuesday morning, offering a short tribute to the woman and his gratitude at the love he’s been receiving.

“My Mother was a powerful, compassionate, creative, giving person who will be missed by the many people she touched in her life. Thanks for all the loving thoughts. My family has pulled together to help each other and my father in this difficult time.”

According to Reckell’s wife, Kelly Moneymaker’s Twitter, her mother-in-law passed over the weekend, as she tweeted this.

“My beautiful, kind, compassionate, intelligent, funny, energetic, hard-working, resilient mother-in-law has transitioned. Peter is with his entire family, so please be patient while he processes this massive loss. She was a very special human being and deeply loved.”

In a case of life imitating art or even art imitating life, Days of Our Lives will say goodbye to Bo Brady’s mother this week, the character Reckell played on and off (but mainly on) from 1983 to 2015.

Peggy McCay passed away last year after playing matriarch Caroline Brady for decades. The soap will pay tribute to Caroline and McCay on Thursday, with many of Caroline’s children returning. The last time we saw McCay regularly on DAYS was when Reckell’s Bo died and Salem said farewell to that iconic character.
