On the Wednesday, May 8 episode of Days of Our Lives, we were treated to Holly reconnecting with her bestie, Sophia, while Tate threw the old pigskin around with the heretofore unseen Aaron. As all talk was of proms and who was going to invite who, we can assume it’s the beginning of yet another Salem quad.
We’ve seen those before. There was Belle and Shawn and Chloe and Phillip (with a side order of Brady), and Ciara and Theo and Claire (with a side order of Chase). We’re not against young people moving front and center, especially as summer nears. But we are curious why we were introduced to two total strangers, instead of the teens that it made more sense to return to Salem.
Little Bad Girl
Sami (Alison Sweeney, who is doing this for Mother’s Day) may not have been the first bad girl to hit Salem, but she sure made her presence felt. Her daughter, Allie (Lindsay Arnold), wasn’t nearly as big of a hit. (Maybe it’s because her first move was to accuse an innocent Tripp [Lucas Adams] of rape, then refuse to take any more responsibility for what could have been a tragedy beyond, “Ooops, my bad.”)
So Allie was an epic fail. But what about her little sister, Sydney? EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Sami’s daughter, whom Nicole (Arianne Zucker) stole at birth and raised as her own for close to a year, could have been a great addition. Imagine the rivalry between her and her new stepsister, Holly (Ashley Puzemis). That was built-in drama right there!
New Boy in Town
Holly also has an older brother, Parker, Chloe’s (Nadia Bjorlin — did you know this?) son, whom we haven’t seen since he was a toddler. He and Tate (Leo Howard) could have been either best buds or rivals — or both. Unlike Aaron, whom we know nothing about, we’d have been invested in Parker from the first day. He’s also Maggie’s (Suzanne Rogers) grandson. Heck, he could have joined forces with Konstantin (John Kapelos) to steal her money. That was built-in motivation right there!
Now, we’re not saying Sophia and Aaron might not develop into someone interesting down the line. But Sydney and Parker would have had a head start!
