In the Monday, April 8 episode of Days of our Lives, Steve finally told Kayla the truth about what he and John have been up to regarding Clyde Weston and a certain prison break. And it was about time.
Out of the Loop
On DAYS, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) has been performing her doctorly duties at the hospital, tending to Paulina (Jackée Harry), Tripp (Lucas Adams), and Wendy (Victoria Grace) over the last few weeks. (Check out what’s coming up on DAYS this week)
On the other hand, she and Steve (Stephen Nichols) have seemed a bit disconnected. He’s been booked and busy working on the Clyde Weston (James Read) situation with John (Drake Hogestyn) and Ava (Tamara Braun). He’s also involved in the Konstantin (John Kapelos) situation with John and Marlena. (Deidre Hall).
Needless to say, breaking Clyde out of prison wasn’t a topic of discussion that came up with his wife. Well, the private detective rectified that today when he finally told her the truth. After all, Weston’s on the loose. Nobody knows where he and Goldman (Christy St. John) are and that’s a dangerous thought for everyone in Salem. (Check out DAYS Comings and Goings here)
So why did he take so long to tell his wife? Probably because she’d tell him how stupid it would be to work with Ava in any capacity. Even when it meant life or death for Tripp and Wendy, Kayla’s perspective could have helped him stop acting desperate. It feels like Kayla is one of the only ones in town who doesn’t think Ava has been redeemed.
Sometimes, you need that voice of reason right there beside you. Instead, he and John executed the plan to break out Weston. And then Ava promptly double-crossed John and Steve and Clyde was gone. Kayla couldn’t believe her husband was shocked Ava hoodwinked them. Clearly, that is her modus operandi.

Guessing Game
Now that Kayla has been read into what’s been going on with Steve, what’s she going to do? She won’t rat Steve or John out, but is there any way she can get to Ava?
Right now, the ex-mob princess is sitting clean free from police charges. She can thank Stefan (Brandon Barash) for taking the blame and doesn’t seem to be too broken up about it. A lovey-dovey Ava and Harris (Steve Burton) also discussed her potentially doing the culinary school thing once this mess clears up.
However, there’s some hypocrisy at play here. Harris and Ava basically rejoiced that she was no longer in trouble. The cop used the excuse of how Ava did everything against her will. We guess Michaels forgot that that’s exactly why Stefan did everything he did, including shooting him. Yet the DiMera was currently behind bars.
So, Kayla needs a story, and it would be great to see her battle Ava. She could drop the knowledge that Ava engineered Weston’s prison break without implicating Steve and John. That would cause major drama.
