Days of our Lives welcomed Beyond the Gates, which premiered on Monday, February 24. The groundbreaking new soap has already broken barriers and is getting support from the daytime community.

The Sweetest Gift

BTG is finally here. The DAYS writing team commemorated the moment by sending flowers to the show’s creator and writer, Michele Val Jean. She unveiled the beautiful gift she received on Instagram. The colorful bouquet looked beautiful against the blue and white toile wallpaper.

“Thank you so much to the #daysofourlives Writing Team for the beautiful flowers,” Val Jean wrote in the caption. “Much appreciated.” She included the hashtag “daytime community.” It’s wonderful to see this first-ever, one-hour, Black-driven soap opera make an effect on the soap opera community. Fans shared their thoughts as well. “That’s class act 💙,” one fan wrote.

From Salem To Fairmont Crest

That’s not all that the Peacock soap did. DAYS offered a warm welcome on its official Instagram page. The post featured shots of the BTG logo and cast members. “Welcome to daytime TV, Beyond the Gates! We can’t wait to see what unfolds in Fairmont Crest! From your friends in Salem. 💙⏳”

Soap fans took to the post to react to the premiere episode. One user wrote, “It was classy AF, that’s what we watch soaps for! Think it’s off to a good start.” Another user shared appreciation for one of the lead actors, Karla Mosley, “I’m loving Dani already! 🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️❤️” A third fan made a suggestion, adding that BTG “should be on Peacock with Days!”

BTG made history. It was the first hour-long soap to feature a prominent Black family and the first time a new soap premiered on daytime television since NBC’s Passions debuted in 1999. Another fan had an idea for Peacock. (Is a Passions reboot in the works?) “Maybe NBC could have Days of our Lives return to NBC again along with our brand new soap opera.”
