The Shocking Days of Our Lives Twist With The Tainted Cupcakes

“Don’t tell me we are dealing with tainted baked goods again,” is what Kayla said to Kate and Roman on the November 19 episode of Days of Our Lives. Sure enough, people are getting violently ill from eating tainted cupcakes mysteriously delivered to the staff of Body & Soul. While many people think that Hattie was the perpetrator, there’s another possible candidate out there. Considering B&S spoilers from Leo’s laptop have also been released to the public, the leak and the poisoning could be connected. 

Who Can It Be Now?

You would think that tasty baked goods would be outlawed in Salem at this point. Some characters were wisely cautious about eating the mysterious cupcakes. Does anybody remember the Sweet Bits biscuits Talia (Aketra Sevillian) tainted with an aphrodisiac or the spiked donuts the book club scarfed down?

While the story of the laced cupcakes plays out, Leo (Greg Rikaart) is beside himself for another reason. The scripts on his laptop have been compromised, and someone using the moniker Lady Whistleblower blasted all of the B&S plot lines for the next month. Leo blamed Javi (Al Calderon) for swiping the spoilers from his laptop and disseminating them. But that’s too obvious, and besides, his only motive is that he needs money.

Javi likes Leo, so why would he want to hurt him? Ideas that hadn’t been written up yet were also on the laptop and revealed in LW’s column. But there’s someone else who has the skill to get into Leo’s hotel room and grab info off his laptop. Someone with a huge motive to get revenge against Leo: Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien).

You Gotta Break a Few Eggs

Let’s face it: Leo ruined Gwen’s chance of happiness when he had an affair with her husband, Dimitri (Peter Porte). She ultimately left town and sold her half of The Spectator newspaper after she and Xander (Paul Telfer) went to all the trouble of blackmailing it out of the hands of Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves). She could have taken a cue from the biscuit debacle and tried something different using cupcakes.

Plus, Emily O’Brien attended the recent Day of DAYS Fan Celebration, so Gwen’s returning at some point. Ruining B&S for Leo would be icing on the cupcake for Gwen. Her list of misdeeds is long, and we wouldn’t put it past her to get several people sick just to get back at Leo. After all, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. And this scheme seems right up Gwen’s alley.
