Stacy Haiduk made her long-awaited return to The Young and the Restless. She reprised her role as Patty Williams, the woman who’s obsessed with Jack Abbott. Haiduk also portrays Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks on Days of Our Lives. Does her return to Genoa City mean she’s leaving Salem behind?
Key Takeaways
- In a new interview, Haiduk addressed her future with DAYS.
- So far, she’s leaving the door open for a potential return to Salem.
- For now, Haiduk’s enjoying the ride as she explores Patty and Jack’s relationship.
Haiduk Teases Potential Return to Salem
In a new interview with TV Insider, Haiduk said she’s open to new opportunities, which is why she was willing to return to Y&R. She also teased a potential return to Salem at some point.
“They put my characters to rest sometimes, and I’m always sad because I love that show and my characters so much,” Haiduk explained. “When they did it in January, I was disappointed. But when this came up, it couldn’t have been more perfect to just roll into another character that I love very much.”
Despite the speculation, Haiduk confirmed that she hasn’t left the long-time soap. She has juggled multiple characters on DAYS, playing Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks. And now her acting journey sees her returning to Y&R as Patty Williams.
Comparing the Soaps
Also, in her interview, Haiduk compared what it was like to return to Y&R and what makes it different from DAYS. Even though she got her start on the CBS soap, she spent most of her career at DAYS.
“They’re a little more relaxed than at DAYS, which is just like, ‘Go, go, go,'” Haiduk said. “Here, you get a little bit more rehearsal time, and they’re not doing as many scripts in a week as they do on Days.”
That’s because DAYS films new episodes 10 months ahead. It’s faster-paced than Y&R, which films new episodes weeks in advance. Haiduk had those first-day jitters when she stepped onto the set, but they went away quickly.
Feeling Right at Home
It’s also a lot quieter on set since The Bold and the Beautiful and The Price is Right moved to different studios. “But it was just like a big family again,” Haiduk noted.
Just like Patty (here’s what you need to know about the character), she enjoyed reuniting with Peter Bergman, who plays Jack Abbott. “I mean, I was like a kid in a candy store,” she said. Haiduk also reunited with Billy Flynn (who played Chad DiMera on DAYS and is Cane Ashby on Y&R), Lucas Adams (Tripp Dalton/Noah Newman), and Tamara Braun (Ava Vitali/Sienna Bacall).
“I walked in, and I’m like, ‘OK, this is a different place, but the same people.’ But it was really fun to see them,” Haiduk admitted. What are your thoughts on Haiduk doing double duty on Y&R and DAYS? Share your thoughts below in the comments section.
