Robert Scott Wilson Is Headed Back To DAYS — But Not As Ben Weston

Dry your eyes, Days of our Lives fans who were sad to see Ben Weston and his lady love, Ciara Brady Weston, sail away from Salem, because Robert Scott Wilson is headed back to the NBC soap. In a surprising move…well, to some who hadn’t seen the rumor…he’s coming back as a new character.

TV Insider broke the news that Wilson will be returning to the show as Alexander Kiriakis, brother of Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) and son to Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) and the late Adrienne Johnson Kiriakis (Judi Evans; now Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis).

“I got a great phone call about five, six months ago, about some changes coming and, long story short, turned myself into Alex Kiriakis,” Wilson said to the website. “Now I’m part of one of the big families here, made it to the big boys club.”

While being tied to a couple of Salem families, this new character also frees the actor in many ways. For one thing, he no longer has the checkered past of a serial killer, forever trying to redeem himself. He can also have many romances, no longer tied to one lady. Fans may recall that after Victoria Konefal left the role of Ciara the first time, the show toyed with pairing Ben with her niece, Claire Brady (Isabel Durant), but that was quickly scuttled.

“It’s been just the biggest breath of fresh air I could ever imagine,” Wilson told the website about this new experience. “I’m having more fun than I think I’ve ever had in any projects, whether it be daytime or film or regular TV…[Alex is] the polar opposite of Ben Weston.”

Wilson isn’t the only one enjoying his return. Judi Evans shared a sneak peek (see below), adding the following caption to it: “Surprise! Alex Kiriakis is coming! I’ve been having the best time working with this trio of talented, sexy men. Bonnie and the boys are coming soon! I’m so excited!” Look for Wilson to make is debut as Alexander Kiriakis sometime next week.
