Robert Scott Wilson may have loved playing Ben Weston on Days of our Lives almost as much as we loved watching him, but he wants his fans to know how excited he is about joining one of the premier Salem families — the Kiriakises — when he begins playing his new role as Alexander Kiriakis. His enthusiasm is pretty obvious in a fun interview he did with Wally Kurth, who plays his new onscreen dad Justin Kiriakis.
Alexander is the son Justin had from his liaison with Anjelica Deveraux (most recently played by Morgan Fairchild but originated by Kurth’s General Hospital mom, Jane Elliot). Wilson will be making his Salem debut next week, and it’s sure to grab everyone’s attention. Kurth asked the actor how he felt when he heard he’d be playing a new role after seven years as Ben.
“Shocked at first, a quick turnaround,” said Wilson with a laugh. “But grateful and refreshing to say the least, after having this wild storyline with Ben for so long and being in this dark place and him always coming from that place to step into somebody like Alex is definitely refreshing. Yeah, it’s been great.”
Trying to help out the audience, Kurth asked Robert Scott Wilson to explain just who Alex is. “I’m trying to figure that out too,” admitted the actor. “But he’s the son of a champion, Justin.” This elicited a fun reaction out of Kurth as he pointed to himself. “And Anjelica Deveraux,” continued Wilson, “whom I have not gotten the chance to meet but who I heard amazing things.
“She sounded like a rock star of a woman. He’s new to town, but he’s been around a long time in the backend. He’s this smart businessman, a bit of a playboy, which I heard follows in his father’s footsteps, so thank the genetics for that one.” There’s a lot more to the interview, which you can watch here.
