Rumors abound regarding Paul Telfer’s status as Xander on Days of Our Lives. The daytime star recently spoke out about it then to set the record straight.

Online Impersonator Outed

Xander Cook has worked hard on DAYS to turn his life around. He went from diamond smuggling, prison escapes, and even kidnapping to eventually becoming part owner of the Spectator newspaper, and doting father to baby Victoria. He’s even found himself in a good place with the child’s mother, Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), with whom he’s often disappointed over the years for his criminal proclivities. But now they’re living together, raising Victoria, and he even proved his innocence when he was framed for shooting Harris Michaels (Steve Burton). (Check out how Xander got the Spectator.)

Xander’s portrayer, Paul Telfer, has been evolving his character since 2015, truly becoming a fan favorite. However, internet trolls like to mess with the fans, and one loyal follower of Telfer’s shared a screenshot of a Facebook post on X, formerly Twitter, outing someone posing as him, and wrote, “Don’t believe this, guys! #Xander/ @PaulTelfer is going no where!” The implication was that Telfer wasn’t going anywhere because the original post stated, “My date on leaving Days of our Lives is finally here, so if you want me to come back and watch me on this next fresh season, I need over 1000 YES [hearts] for me to stay on the show.”

Fans weren’t fooled by the imbecility of the post, and neither was Telfer who shared the fan’s warning on his X feed and responded, “Please know that I would never announce anything like this on social media — especially with such poor grammar…” Fans were relieved to learn that Telfer wasn’t actually leaving the show. One follower responded with the common sense question, “Beyond the fake post & the bad grammar, are there people who believe acting contracts are decided by ‘likes’ on Facebook? 🤦🏻‍♀️”

As many fans also pointed out that there are quite a few people out there in social media land who are impersonating several DAYS cast members. The Bold and the Beautiful star Scott Clifton has also warned fans about social media users impersonating him, as have other soap vets.

We don’t think even the old Xander would have stooped that low!
