Paul Telfer and Linsey Godfrey Describe Their Days of Our Lives On-Screen Dynamic

Xander has been willing to do anything on Days of Our Lives to get Dr. Rolf’s serum that could theoretically cure Sarah’s paralysis. He’ll even kill his brother Philip. While Sarah’s had trouble supporting him in the past because of his criminal proclivities, she changed her tune and now supports him. Actors Paul Telfer and Linsey Godfrey discussed how they’ve approached this dramatic storyline together. Plus, they chat about what they’ve done to help each other’s performances.

She Helped Him Find His Vulnerability

At the Day of Days 2024 fan celebration, Dishin’ Days caught up with Telfer and Godfrey to ask pertinent questions that the fans want to know the answers to. The two were incredibly happy to partake in the event. And Godfrey noted that her favorite parts of it were the Q&A sessions and the autograph meetings because “It’s the only time I get to chat [with] the fans.” Telfer was happy that this year’s event was indoors, so they didn’t have to sit in the harsh sunlight of an outdoor venue.

Interviewer Justin Lee Hareld applauded their performances in the paralysis storyline and asked them about it. Telfer thanked him and stated that it wasn’t easy to find one’s vulnerability on set due to the fast pace of the production. He praised Godfrey for her help with that during the scenes where they grappled with her paralysis. “Linsey made it easy as possible, just, you know, fighting away all the distractions for me…really keeping me in the mode,” he explained. “Giving me things to think about, questions to answer in my mind just to keep me in the space. I’ve just never had anybody do that for me before.” He looked at her and stated, “You’re the best, mate. You’re the best.”

Their Friendship Helped Her Out

Commenting that the story was very close to home for her, Godfrey explained that she was grateful for Telfer’s friendship. She noted that the first time she had to get into the wheelchair was very emotional, and “I didn’t realize things were gonna bother me. Like, they tried to put a neck brace on me.” She added that it caused her to cry, and she ultimately couldn’t wear it. She explained that the people working with her on the show were unaware of her real-life accident and how it mirrored the current storyline.

While the show accommodated her worries, even offering a therapist if she needed it, Godfrey praised Telfer for getting her through it. She further explained that “the wheelchair day was rough,” adding, “I’m very grateful that I had a friend who just wanted to chat and talk it out with me, and talking about it made me feel okay with physically getting in it again.”

It’s nice to hear that soap stars support each other, no matter the circumstance. Godfrey and Telfer’s real-world friendship shines through in their on-screen performances. (Check out Telfer and Godfrey’s trivia face-off.)
