Harris, Ava, and Lucas closed in on Clyde on the May 30 episode of Days of Our Lives. Harris gets major help from the ISA, while Ava and Lucas capture a baddie. But it’s not over yet as a suspect goes on the run.
Harris (Steve Burton) got word from the ISA that they teamed up with Naval Intelligence and cracked the code in Clyde’s (James Read) little black book. It contained a list of dealers and their numbers, and the ISA is forming a multi-agency task force to track them all down. Three of the dirtbags on the list are nearby in Montana, and Harris felt one of them would lead to Clyde. He ordered Ava (Tamara Braun) and Lucas (Bryan Datillo) to stay put in their motel while he went after one of the baddies. This is when DAYS is at its best: when you’re on the edge of your seat as the action heats up.
We’re not sure if Ava was lying or telling the truth. We knew she wouldn’t stay put. She soon claimed that Harris had messaged her and told her and Lucas to stake out the local Post Office where Clyde’s lackey, Goldman (Christy St. John), was supposed to be picking up a package. It’s stupid moves like that that can derail a finely laid plan, but thankfully, it all worked out. The two were hilarious as Lucas was disguised in his monk’s robe while Ava wore a checkered shirt and cowgirl hat. She went into the building while Lucas paced out front, on the lookout for Goldman, who he, of course, accidentally bumped into. She pulled out a gun, and he braced himself for a fight when it went to commercial.
For a few seconds, we were worried that Lucas was a goner, but when the show returned, he had already subdued Goldman by using bear spray, effectively blinding her, and tied her up. His interaction with a shocked Ava was hilarious as he mentioned he had a lot of things hidden in his robe, and she didn’t want to know anything more about it.
Meanwhile, Harris went to what looked like a loading dock, and approached a guy named Snake (Rene D’Nava) who was hanging around smoking. It didn’t take long for him to whip out his badge, and the criminal bolted with Harris in pursuit. The more danger he’s in, the more we know that we’re headed to the end of Burton’s run on DAYS, which is kind of sad because he’s been growing on us as a character. He’s finally become more than just the poor man’s Jason Morgan, and if they kill him off, Ava’s reaction is going to be heartbreaking.
But it was nice to see St. John return as Goldman, who finally got her comeuppance for kidnapping Tripp (Lucas Adams) and Wendy (Victoria Grace). She has that truly evil look in her eyes, although the ick factor of her possibly shacking up with Clyde makes us want to go and boil ourselves. Needless to say, it’s good that the show attempts to tidy up loose ends, and we’re excited to get to the climax of the story. (Read up on Tripp and Wendy’s kidnapping.)
