Days of Our Lives fans are having a field day. The Peacock soap went meta with its callout to soap Twitter. There was also a mention to another classic daytime soap.
That’s So Meta
Check out this scene from the latest episode of DOOL. Changes are happening with Body & Soul. (The DOOL spoilers reveal whether Chanel (Raven Bowens) or Johnny (Carson Boatman) will be left.) The recent episode referenced a classic storyline on ABC’s All My Children. The show went meta when Chanel said, “Okay, so recast me. They do it all the time on soap operas, right?”
She continued, “I remember when I was watching one of Big Mama’s stories. And this lady, Babe, she went in for a hug, and came out a completely different person.” Abe (James Reynolds) crossed his arms as he looked at Chanel. He responded, “Well, that doesn’t happen these days. Have you checked out Soap Twitter recently?”
Johnny responded, “We try to avoid it.” One DOOL fan caught wind of the scene. They posted, “THEY CALLED US OUT!” Check out the hilarious clip for yourself below.
What Does Soap Twitter Think?
Soap Twitter shared their thoughts on DOOL’s shoutout. Most of them flocked to the comment section to react. One user remarked, “THIS HAD LAYERS,” referring to the scene. Another fan recalled this AMC throwback, writing, “This literally happened on All My Children with the character of Babe, I believe.”
One shocked fan commented, “Not an All My Children mention on Days of Our Lives.” There was one user who posted the scene that the show referred to. Alexa Havins originally played the role of Babe from 2003 to 2007, until Amanda Baker took it over. She only lasted for a year. The soap found a creative way to make this transition smooth.
