The party’s over, but episodes of The Last Blast Reunion are just getting started! The Days of Our Lives Last Blast gang reunited in a series on the DOOL App, with Matha Madison at the helm as Belle. The group’s reunion ended, but as viewers who’ve already seen this week’s episode can attest to, there’s a dangerous individual running amok!
Will Kevin (Chadwick Hopson) survive or is he the first victim of a mysterious assailant who may or may not plan to take down others? Soap Hub chatted with Martha Madison (Belle) about The Last Blast Reunion, if there’s hope for Belle and Shawn (Brandon Beemer), and what’s been keeping her busy since exiting Salem.
The stakes are raised in these episodes in a way that’s very familiar to DAYS viewers.
Yes. I think that the relationships between everybody are secondary to the mystery that’s now kicked off.
Can you describe Shawn and Belle’s current relationship?
They’re still very much in love and they operate as a family unit as they’ve done for many years. As far as I know, they’re not officially remarried. They divorced after Belle had an affair with Phillip. Shawn and Belle reconciled in order to move to Hong Kong. They’re not remarried, but weddings are fun. Maybe it’s time they had another big one?
There are flashbacks to Philip (Jay Johnson) and Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) in this episode. Will we see some that you’re in?
I’m not sure. I know we had flashbacks in this current episode. (Laughs) You saw me looking a lot like Kirsten Storms (ex-Belle; Maxie, General Hospital)! I think showing those original scenes are a wonderful nod to history. Fans will love it.
How are you all better looking than you were years ago?
(Laughs) That’s funny. Seriously, I think we’re all looking to get the next gig so everyone tries to look good. I swear that Nadia gets more beautiful with age and Jay hasn’t aged a bit.
My favorite part of shooting this was seeing Heather (Lindell, Jan) again. I love her. We’ve kept in touch outside of the show. She was fairly new to the show when I was new. We bonded immediately. We were each dating at the time men who became our husbands. There are all these kids now!
Who was new to you in this project?
I hadn’t met Lindsay (Hollister, Susan) before. She is so funny. She’s got a great personality and kept everyone on their toes. And Chadwick is probably the funniest person I’ve ever met. He’s one of my favorite people to hang out with.
Every day, we laughed so hard. We all clicked really well. A lot of the fun, conversational easy vibe you see is real. We got to know each other. There’s some nice chemistry.
Are you open to additional chapters and/or a return to DAYS?
Yes. There’s always logistics to consider, but DAYS is my passion. I love the show. It’s always fun to be there.
What else is keeping you busy?
My husband, A.J., and I are opening a new restaurant – The Mayor’s House in Dallas. We’re opening in late January or early February. Also, this Sunday, I’m running the Dallas Marathon in support of FDT [Frontotemporal Degeneration, which Martha Madison’s mother, Barbara, has been diagnosed with]. (To support Madison on her journey, you can click here.)
I trained for the full marathon, but then I got injured so I’m running the half marathon. My sister is running the ultra [marathon] – 30 miles! (Laughs) The quest to match her strength continues!
The Last Blast Reunion can be seen on the DOOL App. If you don’t have it, you can click here to get it. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
