Xander and Sarah remain among the cutest couples on Days of Our Lives. Despite his flaws, she’s learned to appreciate and keep him in check. Xander struggles with giving in to his darker impulses, but he makes an effort to curb them to please his wife. Linsey Godfrey recently opened up about the dynamic between Sarah and Xander and how the burly man stays on the straight and narrow.
Sarah Rules the Roost
Godfrey spoke to Soap Opera Digest and explained that she enjoys the fact that while Xander (Paul Telfer) is a physically imposing man, he bows down to Sarah. She happily remarked that Xander couldn’t be with an easily intimidated woman. “I’ve always kind of played Sarah a little bit bossy in certain aspects. And she’s so bossy with Xander and so much in charge. I love that dynamic.”
She stated that Sarah’s strength is a constant in their relationship. Godfrey remarked that some characters she can be affable with while others, like Xander, Sarah needs to have a more hard-nosed approach. He’s a Big, Fluffy Puppy
Despite Xander’s gruff exterior, Godfrey praised her scene partner for allowing himself to be vulnerable where other actors wouldn’t do that. “Paul allows Xander to be [gentle],” she stated. “Xander is this big scary guy, but he is a little boy around Maggie (Suzanne Rogers).” She particularly pointed out how Xander defers to Maggie’s wishes out of respect and admiration for her. And he allows his vulnerability to become evident when he’s with Maggie or Sarah.
A lot of the relationship between Xander and Sarah is reflected in real life, as Godfrey explained, “Even in our friendship dynamic, I tend to be bossy, and Paul’s just kind of like, ‘Ehhh.’”

But Sarah is keeping from Xander the secret that his brother Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) used a forged letter to gain control of half of the Kiriakis fortune. Godfrey feels that Sarah hates keeping this from Xander. But, she holds out hope that for his own good, he’ll find a way to work with his brother rather than kill him.
