EJ managed to get the truth out of a drunken Leo, and went after Sloan on the Friday, May 3 episode of Days of Our Lives. Meanwhile, Eric wanted to kill Leo, but changed his tune when he saw the man’s vulnerable side.
On EJ’s (Daniel Feuerriegel) doorstep, a drunken Leo (Greg Rikaart) rambled on about how the information he had would change EJ’s world, and he wanted money to reveal what he knew. Leo insinuated it had something to do with Nicole (Arianne Zucker), referencing a couple of Beatles songs including Hey Jude, and you could see the wheels turning in EJ’s mind as he processed it. Leo stated that his son didn’t die and said he tried to tell him before Christmas but got punched in the face. EJ grabbed him by the lapel demanding answers to which Lady Whistleblower told him his son was alive. Stupidly, he then demanded money from EJ after revealing the secret, and the DiMera told him he could get his money in hell.
Meanwhile, Eric and Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) were having a bitter argument about her payments to Leo, so she fabricated a story that Leo was going to write about sordid details he uncovered in her past. She paid him to kill the story and was worried she’d lose her law firm and Eric. She apologized for letting Leo take advantage of her. (She’s a quick thinker and a convincing liar, that one.) Eric stormed out, threatening to kill Leo.
He arrived at Leo’s apartment to find him drunk out of his mind, and also grabbed him by the lapel, demanding answers. Eric helped a woozy Leo to the bed where he stated he had something to confess. Eric almost got him to spill the beans, but the weasel passed out. This was a nice scene as Eric turned from blind rage to compassion, illustrating his true nature. He felt bad for the pathetic Leo, but only got more questions than answers.
An absolutely livid EJ stormed into Sloan’s apartment, telling her that Leo said Jude was really his and Nicole’s baby. He threatened to take the child and prove he’s the father, then call the police and have her arrested, but thinking quickly, she revealed that the baby was not his. The look of shock on EJ’s face expressed perfectly where this is going to go: he’ll most likely figure out that Eric is the dad considering the paternity debacle they went through, and will probably end up being blackmailed by Sloan, who doesn’t want to go to jail for her crime. (Check out baby Jude’s sordid paternity story.)
EJ won’t want the news of him not being the baby’s father to get out, so he’ll most likely do what he can to cover it up. While fans have been eagerly anticipating the big reveal, this is a turn that no one saw coming, and we could be in for a longer stretch of blackmail, now between Sloan and EJ. The only thing that can speed the storyline up is if Eric figures out that he’s really Jude’s dad. That would mean the end of him and Sloan, and could also mean the end of EJ and Nicole if the full truth gets out once and for all, unless she really loves him.
Leo mentioned two Beatles songs: Across the Universe, and Hey Jude, which was the perfect way to insinuate the truth to E.J. Besides, that song always pops in our head when the child is called by name.
Leo also referenced a Happy Meal, and claimed he was supposed to direct an off, off-Broadway version of the classic play, A Streetcar Named Desire, which was adapted to film in 1951, and starred icons Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh.
