Surprisingly, Bobby wasn’t happy to learn about Connie’s extreme measures on the July 16 episode of Days of Our Lives, putting the two at cross-purpose. Meanwhile, Marlena gave EJ what she thought he deserved, which wasn’t quite enough for his misdeeds.
Bobby (Blake Berris) was shocked when Connie (Julie Dove) explained that she stabbed Rafe (Galen Gerring) for him. He was horrified at what she had done, so she hilariously asked, “Would you have preferred poison, maybe, or a good old-fashioned bullet to the brain?”
He explained that he wasn’t looking for murder. He just wanted to get the police commissioner out of his way. “I don’t know about you,” she added, adding, “but I don’t own a private island or two where I can ship people. The only way I know how to get rid of someone is to put them six feet under.”
This may have been a reference to the time when the Salem Stalker was killing people, but it turned out their deaths were faked, and the victims all ended up on an island called Melaswen, which is “New Salem” backward. (Find out who the Salem Stalker really was.)
So here we start to see that the villains won’t be able to work comfortably together. Although Bobby has a malicious look on his face, as if he’s always about to do something heinous, it would seem that murdering the commissioner was not on his playlist. It’s fascinating to watch the dynamic between the two, as they definitely have chemistry as scene partners.
Ordinarily, the average soap fan would assume her motivation for killing Rafe was a love for Bobby, but that’s not the case here. She’s just trying to conceal the fact that she killed Li (Remington Hoffman) out of love. If Bobby starts to get on her bad side, he could also end up at the wrong end of a kitchen knife.
Understandably, Marlena (Deidre Hall) was not too happy when she learned that EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) took part in covering up the fact that Eric (Greg Vaughan) was Jude’s (Oliver McLarty) biological father. She went to his house and confronted the district attorney, ultimately slapping him on the face for his schemes.
He admitted that he deserved it and then had a little pity party for himself, singing his tale of woe about how he lost his son and his wife. He tried to explain to Marlena that his motivation was simply out of fear of losing those two things, and he lost anyway.
She wasn’t having any of it and didn’t feel sorry at all for him. EJ’s part in the underhanded scheme has him jumping out of one frying pan and into another. He’ll probably only barely be able to hold onto his job, and that’s because he could unleash the concerned citizens on Paulina (Jackée Harry) again, and she’s not going to want that. He’s opened himself up to attack from all sides, and it’ll be interesting to see where the next one comes from, considering he’s very vulnerable right now.
