Casting shakeups are nothing new for soap operas. While fans were shocked to learn that Billy Flynn was departing his role as Chad on Days of Our Lives, he wasted no time saying that moving over to The Young and the Restless was a dream come true. Now comes word that a beloved Y&R star is sliding over to DAYS in an unexpected soap swap that has fans talking.
He’s Headed to Salem
The game of musical actors began when Flynn moved over to Y&R to take on the role of Aristotle Dumas. However, as Victor (Eric Braeden) announced to everyone on Friday’s episode, it turns out that Dumas was, in reality, Cane Ashby. Meanwhile, Cane’s original portrayer, Daniel Goddard, has recently begun playing the nefarious Professor Dalton on General Hospital. Is your scorecard properly updated?
Y&R’s Conner Floyd, who has played Chance Chancellor since November 2021, shared a screenshot of a Deadline article on Instagram, with the caption, “See y’all in Salem! @dayspeacock.” The headline on the article read, “Days of Our Lives casts Conner Floyd as the new Chad DiMera.”

Save the Date
Interestingly, Y&R’s Melissa Ordway (Abby) commented, “Congratulations!!! You deserve the best!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” and Floyd responded, “@mel_ordway you’re not getting rid of me that easily.” This prompted fans to ask if he was pulling double duty on both shows.
Meanwhile, the official DAYS Instagram page shared a pic of Floyd happily pointing to a dressing room door with his name on it, and wrote, “Save the Date: April 2026 💙⏳.” The fact that DAYS shoots almost a year in advance, and that’s how long it will be before we see Floyd as Chad, he’s most likely doing both shows at the same time.
Many Y&R co-stars shared their congratulations, while DAYS cast members welcomed Floyd with open arms. Fans also did the same, with many watching his new show simply because he’ll be appearing in it. We’re excited to see what happens next!
