If chemistry is any indicator of a good soap couple, then Days of Our Lives’ Xander and Sarah have bags of it. The two have such a great dynamic together, and she’s been very good about accepting the former criminal for his flaws. However, the tables turned recently when Sarah kept it quiet that Philip’s letter from Victor was a fake, and when that fact is revealed, it’s going to be Xander who may have to do the forgiving. Lindsay Godfrey recently opened up about the magic that the two characters have.
Opposites Attract
In a discussion with Soap Opera Digest, Godfrey explained that Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah truly love one another. She called them an “odd couple,” though, because “Xander is this very tough, scary and intimidating character except with two people [Sarah and Maggie].” In a way, their love story is a lot like Beauty and the Beast, in which Beauty (Sarah) has tamed the Beast (Xander).
Godfrey further noted that once Sarah shared a gentle hand with him, “he just immediately kind of melted.” Explaining that the two are polar opposites, like the duality of yin and yang. And she talked about why their romance endures. “That’s what makes Sarah and Xander so special: Xander is putty in Sarah’s hands,” she stated, adding that he’s always been like that.

He’s a Giant
The actress also pointed out that one of the major things Sarah loves about Xander is how passionately he loves her with every fiber of his being. She further remarked that it helps that they have a mutual attraction. She explained that she and Telfer’s “dynamic” ultimately makes the couple work.

The couple isn’t just opposites in their approaches to life; they are also physically different. “The comical difference in our size is also quite funny,” she hilariously added, remarking that she’s rather tiny while Telfer is a large man. She hysterically noted that while the average actor isn’t a particularly tall person, “A lot of our male cast members are absolute giants!”
