Harris, Ava, and Lucas were hot on Clyde’s trail on the May 29 episode of Days of Our Lives. Meanwhile, Jada unwittingly gave Steve a strong lead that could help the heroes find the dastardly villain.
The Heroes Are One Step Closer to Their Goal
After sending scans of Clyde’s (James Read) black book to the mysterious email he provided, Harris (Steve Burton) and Ava (Tamara Braun) traced the recipient to Ennis, Montana. They brought along Lucas (Bryan Datillo) as a driver and a lookout. He wondered why the two hadn’t called the FBI with their lead, and they explained that their beef with the villain was personal. Datillo gets points here for being something of the comic relief in the situation, acting like a kid who finally gets to work with his spy parents on a dangerous mission. (Learn more about the villainous Clyde Weston.)
There was a lot of talk about bears and bugs, and trout season was well underway, meaning that the motels were pretty full in the area. Foraging for food, all Harris and Lucas could find was a convenience store that only seemed to have slushies and flaming hot cheese puffs. Adding Lucas into the mix was a brilliant idea, as his presence gave them more to talk about, as well as them bringing him up to speed on the hunt for Clyde, thereby informing the audience with exposition.
Harris told him that former Officer Goldman (Christy St. John), who turned out to be working with Clyde, had been frequenting the local library and printing out a lot of pages, which they deduced were the scans from the book.
Let’s not forget that in Salem, Clyde had eyes and ears everywhere and, no doubt, was already aware that the good guys were in Montana. Getting ever closer to their goal, both Harris and Lucas are expecting to eventually turn Clyde over to the FBI when he’s caught, but Ava has other plans.
Clyde May Return to Salem…in a Bodybag
Meanwhile, back in Salem, Steve (Stephen Nichols) was having dinner with Jada (Elia Cantu) and he noticed her hamburger bun was different. She explained that it was gluten-free and tasted good because she got it from a special place that Goldman turned her on to. Steve took this as a clue and contacted the company that made the buns. He spoke to Ava on the phone and told her the company had weekly shipments going out to Ennis to someone named Faith Silvers, the first of which arrived a week after Clyde escaped, with the next shipment arriving tomorrow. Now, the good guys must follow up this lead but tread carefully.
Although Harris wants to see Clyde brought to justice, Ava has more than insinuated to Steve that she wants him dead. Steve told her to be careful because he didn’t want Tripp’s mother coming home in a body bag. After their phone conversation, Ava pulled out a gun and muttered to herself that Clyde would be the only person coming home in that fashion. Knowing that Burton’s exit from the show is soon, showing the gun indicates that there will be some violent action, and he’ll probably go out a hero at the hands of Clyde.
At the end of the episode, good ol’ Patch updated Chad on the search for Clyde. When asked whether the villain would be returned alive or dead, Steve stated, “I don’t think I have to tell you which I prefer.” But Clyde’s not stupid. Because Steve and John (Drake Hogestyn) helped break him out of jail, he knows full well that they mean business when it comes to hunting him, and he surely has a trap set for our heroes!
