It was an abrupt decision for Joy to leave Salem on Days of Our Lives. She’s pregnant with Alex’s child but has let everyone believe that she’s not. So, her leaving makes sense since, after a while, people would notice. While Alex is comfortably back together with Stephanie- after breaking Joy’s heart- fans really wanted to see where the storyline of Joy and Alex would go. But now that she’s gone, Alex’s alter ego, Robert Scott Wilson, weighed in on AlexAnn Hopkins’ exit.
She Did Great Work
With Joy out of the picture, Wilson shared his thoughts with Soap Opera Digest about Alex’s feelings on the matter, remarking, “I also don’t think that he really thought it was his [baby], potentially. I still don’t think he knows that.” And he definitely doesn’t as she skipped town with barely a goodbye.
Wilson praised Hopkins’ skills, noting, “AlexAnn was really, really great.” He also appreciated that she was always prepared for her scenes, stating, “The amount [of material] that we did have together, I think she really showed up and always did really great work.” He also praised Hopkins for bringing nuance to her scenes that Wilson felt also helped with the show’s continuity.

She’s Fantastic
“I’m sure they’ll do something with her and myself in the future at some point down the line,” he remarked, which had us imagining Joy coming back in a few years with a SORAS’d child who’s excited to meet his dad. He happily pointed out how much story potential there is in having Joy and said child eventually return to Salem.
He continued to praise his co-star, noting that her hard work is “A sign of any good actor. It’s just being available and doing enough work on your own.” Despite the fact that Hopkins’ run on the soap was short, Wilson felt she did wonderful as a newbie. “She was fantastic. She is fantastic,” he acknowledged.
