Like many children born on a soap opera, Philip Kiriakis had a troubled beginning on Days of Our Lives. The nefarious Vivian, in an attempt to get closer to Victor, stole Kate’s and his embryo and brought Philip into the world via her own body. Now grown up, with a letter forged by Vivian and Kate’s approval, Philip has faked his way into being Victor’s true co-heir with Xander. John-Paul Lavoisier recently opened up about the similarities he shares with both his TV moms.
They Both Love to Rehearse
Philip (Lavoisier) and Vivian’s (Louise Sorel) forgery scheme backfired somewhat when a judge declared that he and Xander (Paul Telfer) should split Titan 50/50. This was the first time Lavoisier and Sorel fully worked together, and the actor gushed about Sorel to Soap Opera Digest. “Everything that Louise is, she’s my favorite kind of person. I just want to be surrounded by a bunch of Louises for the rest of my life — her stories, her personality, who she is, what she’s done.”
In fact, the two have quite a bit in common, from favorite TV shows like Seinfeld and The Golden Girls to having many friends and rehearsing together. He further explained that they would go over their lines multiple times. And he recounted a story where they spent the day in her dressing room “so we could hang out, chat and run lines over and over again. That makes for such a pleasurable work environment.” Lavoisier was also shocked to learn that Sorel was previously married to Herb Edelman, who played Stan Zbornak on Golden Girls and was probably most famous for playing Murray the Cop in the 1968 hit film The Odd Couple.

Kate’s Like His Own Mom, But Cooler
Lavoisier also had nothing but great things to say about his other TV mom, Lauren Koslow (Kate). He noted that when they’re in a scene together, she’s totally bringing the mom feeling, which he finds palpable. “I just respect her very much.” He felt as if Koslow was his real-life mother, except she’s “My really cool, younger, hip, wise mom. She’s a cool chick, man. Like rock and roll. I could see her dancing at a Metallica concert or something.”
He stated that Koslow also likes to rehearse scenes with him, but their sessions are often filled with her imparting words of wisdom or simply information to him. Their opinions on various topics are similar, but Koslow always seems to help him open up his perspective. “We talk about life, and she opens my eyes to a bunch of new information,” he stated. He also loves that she challenges him to think differently about things. (Find out how Lavoisier keeps Philip intriguing.)
