Billy Flynn has been playing Chad DiMera on Days of Our Lives since 2014 and has been involved in many front-burner stories, including the murder of Chad’s wife, Abigail. But fans were shocked when it was announced recently that Flynn would be exiting the show to take a role on The Young and the Restless. His co-stars, Dan Feuerriegel and Carson Boatman, recently spoke about Flynn’s departure.

It’s Going To Leave a Huge Hole

Boatman (Johnny) and Feuerriegel (EJ) were interviewed on the Michael Fairman Channel, and because Flynn’s Chad and Feuerriegel’s EJ are brothers, Feuerriegel was asked what it was like working with Flynn and what he meant to the show. “Well, first and foremost, it’s an absolute bummer,” noting that Flynn told him personally before it became public knowledge.

Feuerriegel expressed that he was saddened by the news, “He is, like, a good buddy of mine…He was one of the first to kind of…congratulate me when I first came on the show.” He also noted that Flynn was a fan of Feuerriegel’s prior work. In addition, he explained that the directors and producers probably didn’t like when the two were on set together because they would “Constantly screw around try and make each other laugh.” He further lamented that Flynn is “Such a wonderful presence that…it really is a bummer to see him go, and it’s going to leave a huge hole in my opinion.”

It’s Going To Be a Loss

Boatman also expressed his dismay at Flynn’s exit. “Billy is Billy no matter where you put him or, you know, he’s just always going to be Billy, and there’s something about that that’s just super commendable.” The actor explained that Flynn also congratulated him when he started on the show and shared, “Some encouraging words.”

He continued, explaining that Flynn is highly talented. “I think it’s a loss,” he stated, adding, “That’s daytime, you know.” Feuerriegel chimed in, saying that he was suitably blown away when he started because Flynn recognized him from the show Spartacus. He hilariously remarked that he enjoyed being “seen.” And he added that Flynn is a “Wonderful man. Good human being,” concluding that, “It’s gonna be a loss.”
