By the time Days of our Lives’ Dimitri froze Gwen’s accounts and made it clear he planned to divorce her the moment he could prove she had him captured, the marriage had already turned into something colder than betrayal. Gwen wasn’t just cut off financially. She was humiliated, stranded, and publicly reduced to a punchline while the man who gutted her life strutted back into Salem smelling fantastic and spending freely. That’s the version of events Gwen laid bare this week, in a blunt, unfiltered confessional that made one thing clear: she was done explaining herself, and wasn’t asking permission anymore.

Key Takeaways

  • Dimitri froze Gwen’s accounts and planned to divorce her, leaving her publicly humiliated and financially stranded.
  • Gwen laid out her anger, claimed what she believes is hers, and stopped apologizing.
  • She confirmed Vivian was now in her corner and suggested Dimitri’s control wouldn’t last.
  • Castmates and fans responded with humor and support, embracing Gwen’s unapologetic turn.

Gwen Doesn’t Want Sympathy, Just Money

The DAYS official Instagram page shared a video of Emily O’Brien in character as Gwen with the caption, “Salem Confessional: Gwen’s only after what’s (rightfully) hers…” In the clip, Gwen launched straight into Dimitri, saying, “Oh, we’re gonna talk about Dimitri, are we? Oh God. What do I have to say about that sod of an ex-husband of mine coming back into Salem? Looking fabulous with hair bigger than mine, smelling bloody amazing, oh God.”

She described Dimitri’s (Peter Porte) return as salt in an already open wound, cheating with her best friend and then cutting her off completely. She said the money was hers because she didn’t marry him for power or gain, and refused to stay stuck in survival mode. With Vivian (Louise Sorel) backing her, Gwen hinted that Dimitri’s grip wouldn’t hold forever. She then admitted that love had never been kind to her, and maybe she was done expecting it to be.

She ended with, “My fault really. If I just stopped scheming. Don’t protect my heart so much. I don’t know, who knows? Maybe there is a man out there for me. Somewhere. My equal. And I thought that was Dimitri, but no. Turns out he likes lovable little adorable short men by the name of Matty. And I can’t compete with that, can I? So perhaps I’m just meant to be alone in Salem.”

Fans Know Exactly Who Gwen Is

Castmates jumped in immediately. Greg Rikaart (Leo) called it out with, “This is an unhinged woman! 😂😂,” which prompted O’Brien to reply, “@gregrikaart sorry for calling you short.. 😳,” followed by Rikaart’s comeback, “@emroya it’s fine, you were talking about Leo, not me.” Paul Telfer (Xander) added, “You tell ‘em, Gwen! Sending loads of support from your favorite ex-fiancee ; ),” and Cherie Jimenez (Gabi) summed it up simply with, “This is amazing 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽.”

O’Brien leaned into the chaos herself, writing, “Oh, this was so fun to improvise! More please! Poor little Gwen gets so easily played…” Abigail Klein (Stephanie) joined in with, “Hahahhhahahah giggling!!!! Gwen’s just trying to eat her chowder!!”

The reaction from viewers followed the same rhythm, as one fan wrote, “Aww… Poor Gwen. You’re not unlovable! 🫂,” while another chimed in with, “I love bitter Gwen!!” and someone else declared, “Team Gwen!!! 💜💜💜.” There was a lot of laughing, a lot of heart emojis, and a lot of encouragement to stop pretending she needed redemption to be compelling.
