Arnold’s back, and he’s going to terminate Rafe and Jada’s relationship on Days of Our Lives. No, not that, Arnold. Arnold Feniger, the presumed-dead man Stefano and EJ helped turn into a Rafe doppelganger back in 2011. Supposedly killed in prison, we recently learned that his death was faked, and now he’s back in Salem. Galen Gering dished about playing both parts and the entertaining aspects of it.

Double the Fun

Watching Arnold make EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) completely uncomfortable is hilarious. We learned that after faking Arnold’s death, EJ had him shipped off to Argentina. But since he ran out of his hush money, he’s back for more. And he’s, once again, impersonating Rafe. Gering spoke to Soap Opera Digest about doing double duty. He explained that soap couples often face issues that could tear them apart. However, he wasn’t worried that Arnold would completely ruin things for the almost-married Rafe and Jada (Elia Cantu). “I thought that it would be fun to [cause trouble for the couple] no matter what,” the actor stated, adding in his confidence that they’ll overcome this latest escapade. “They can work things out in spite of all the ups and downs.” Even though she starts to notice that he’s not behaving like Rafe, Arnold will divert her attention by downplaying things.

Twin it To Win It

Rafe is tied up in the DiMera mansion’s not-so-secret secret room while Arnold is goofing around as Rafe. “I will say that Arnold doesn’t do a great job of trying to be Rafe,” Gering said, admitting that in this twin-go-round, he’s purposely playing Arnold as someone who doesn’t care if he impersonates Rafe correctly. His main goal is to get more money from EJ.

“He kind of wants to get caught or make EJ feel uncomfortable about the fact that he’s there,” he explained. Arnold’s hope is that if he can annoy EJ enough, the DiMera will buckle and pay him what he wants, so he’ll go away. “The more Arnold can make EJ uncomfortable, the better.” This twin tale is very enjoyable, especially when you see Gering having the time of his life annoying people.
