What makes Peter Reckell’s recent return to Days of Our Lives different is that his character, Bo, was no longer in a coma or believed to be dead. He was alive and well and traveling the world with his wife, Hope. Before Bo fully returned to the land of the living, he met his late son, Zack, who told him to return when his time had finally come. Reckell opened up about what he thought of the young actors Bo got to connect with.

He Had High Praise for New Co-stars

Reckell, who’s been open about wanting to return full-time to the show, spoke with Soap Opera Digest, which noted that when Bo and Ciara finally reconnected, he got to share scenes for the first time with Victoria Konefal. He also got to act opposite DAYS newcomer, Brandon Butler, who played Zack. Reckell remarked, “The casting people are bringing these awesome actors in. [Butler] was amazing.”

He praised Butler’s acting skills and hoped that the show would either find more reasons for Zack to appear, or have the actor play a new character. He explained that often, up-and-coming younger stars need to adapt to the gruelling soap opera pace. “But there was none of that with him,” he stated.

He Likes Working with Child Actors

After Bo emerged from his coma, he was introduced to several younger characters, and remarked that he enjoys kids and acting is basically playing pretend. “So to play pretend with kids is just perfect.” But he had a tough time wrapping his brain around the fact that he was now playing a grandfather when he met young Bo Weston (Vincent Simard).

“He was a great kid,” Reckell commented about Simard, and added, “He was so on and a feisty little guy.” The actor likes working with children because of their unpredictable nature. He felt it was good to always be surprised by what a kid actor brought to the table. “Also, helping them focus helps me focus,” he stated.
