Miranda Wilson, as Megan Hathaway, gave the DiMera clan a big boost when she returned to the story canvas first on Beyond Salem 2 and then, when she reprised her role as Stefano’s daughter on Days of our Lives. Recently, the actress chatted with Soap Hub about the possibility of Megan rising again — like a Phoenix.

Rising Phoenix

Death has never stopped a character from doing the Lazarus bit in Salem, which is a good thing as Wilson walked back into Megan as if she’d never left. “I was wonderfully overjoyed,” Wilson told Soap Hub over lunch at the famous Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles, located a stone’s throw from TV City where Wilson played Kate on Capitol. “The fans had been asking for it and there had been chit-chat about it happening.”

It was an immediate yes when Wilson’s agents let her know that the show had reached out about bringing back Megan. “Coming back was like slipping on my favorite dress,” she says. “There was no thought about saying no involved.”

After completing her role in Beyond Salem 2, in which viewers learned not only was Megan alive but so was her beloved Bo, played by Peter Reckell, the actress returned to England, where she primarily resides, and resumed her life there — only to come back to Los Angeles to reprise Megan on DAYS. There, the show wove her into DiMera shenanigans and gave her a son, Dimitri (played by Peter Porte).

Head writer Ron Carlivati brought Stefano’s surviving children together, which allowed Wilson to interact with EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), Kristen (Stacy Haiduk), and Tony (Thaao Penghlis). “It was absolutely fabulous to see Thaao and Leann [Hunley, Anna] — both of whom I worked with in my original days on the show,” Wilson says. “I loved working with everyone.”

Megan and Kristen got along well and started scheming as if they had been conspiring for years. “We got along like a house on fire, instantly,” Wilson recalls of working with her TV sister. “It’s almost as if [Stacy and I] already knew each other. I’m confident Ron will circle back [to that relationship] when he needs to.”

This begs the question — is Miranda Wilson open to crossing the pond once again should DAYS invite her to reprise Megan — especially with the show’s 60th anniversary on the horizon? “Absolutely,” Wilson responds with a smile. “Work is the most important thing to me. If there’s work to do, I’ll do it. I’ll make it happen.”

While some characters have committed all sorts of heinous crimes and are somehow accepted into Salem society, Wilson points out that despite Megan’s wicked ways she’s never done anything diabolical that’s gone to the point of no return. “She never killed anyone,” the actress notes. “The source of the hate fans have had for her is that she was intervening between Bo and Hope (Kristian Alfonso). That’s it? Well, you’re hating her for being in love.”

Wilson gives thanks not only to Carlivati but also to executive producer Ken Corday for seeing the value in having her back on the show. “Ken brought Megan back…kudos to that man,” she warmly shares. “I adore him. I saw him briefly when I was back [for Beyond Salem 2].”

DAYS is about couples — in fact, the show has had incredible success with supercouples over the years. With that in mind, Wilson would love to see Megan paired with a leading man. “Have Megan have a man in her life,” she gently suggests. “A partner…a partner in crime.”
