Days of our Lives rectified the untimely demise of Megan Hathaway back in 1985 by resurrecting the character for Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem 2 in 2022. Miranda Wilson also reprised Megan on DAYS earlier this year. She recently chatted with Soap Hub about her time in Salem and if she’d come back again now that her return has wrapped up.

Miranda Wilson: Like A Phoenix

Long before Stefano’s many, many additional children were introduced to the canvas — Kristen, Peter, Benji, Lexie, EJ, Chad, and Stefan — he was father to Megan Hathaway, Bo Brady’s former lover. Arguably, Megan is most like Stefano as evidenced by the way she walked back into the mansion and let out a Stefano-like laugh under the Phoenix’s portrait.

Does Wilson see Megan as being most like her father? “A lot of the fans have said that on social media,” the actress responds. “I have to accept what they’re saying. I don’t know much about his other children. I know Tony and Andre [both played by Thaao Penghlis]. I know Kristen [Stacy Haiduk] now. I know the teeniest about EJ [Dan Feuerriegel] and Stefan [Brandon Barash]. I know nothing about Lexie [Renee Jones]. And Renee [the late Philece Sampler] was killed off before I came onto the show.

“[Renee] was brilliant,” Wilson offers of the late Sampler. “I’ve seen her work on YouTube. But I really can’t compare. I know that for me, as the actress, Stefano or Joe — both — are constantly in my mind. It’s always a reference point for me. He’s there as Stefano, my [TV] father, and he’s there as Joe Mascolo, my very dear friend. It’s very much in the framework of what I bring to Megan.”

Hope For The Future

Wilson says that rumblings of her return to DAYS began at the show’s Golden Anniversary party at the Palladium in Hollywood in November 2015– 30 years after Megan was “fatally” slammed into a wall at the Body Connection by Larry Welch (Andrew Masset). “That started tongues wagging,” she recalls. People were saying, “Wouldn’t it be amazing if she came back?” Alas, it never came to pass — at least not at first. However, when DAYS was looking for a way to reintroduce Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) back into the DAYS universe on Beyond Salem 2, Wilson says that it was Alfonso who suggested that Megan be used as an antagonist to help facilitate the super couple’s return.

Miranda Wilson: Who Is Megan’s Mommie Dearest

While Megan’s story has wrapped for now, there are many ways to bring the character back — especially as viewers are hoping that we haven’t seen the last of Bo and Hope. We know that Stefano is Megan’s birth father and that Maxwell Hathaway (Tom Hallick, ex-Brad Elliot, The Young and the Restless) is her adopted dad. Do we know who Megan’s mother is? “No,” Wilson replies. Whether the show goes down that maternal pathway or not, Wilson has an answer as to whether or not she’d return. “I would definitely come back if asked,” Wilson says.
