Instead of praising EJ for getting her out of jail, Gabi publicly revealed the truth that Eric is Jude’s father on the July 8 episode of Days of Our Lives, causing Nicole to take the baby and run to her true love. Meanwhile, Li Shin’s killer was revealed, and Bobby had information about it.
At a press conference intended to bolster EJ’s (Daniel Feuerriegel) position as the new district attorney (again), Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) told the world that Eric (Greg Vaughan) was baby Jude’s (Oliver McLarty) biological father. You could see EJ’s face go from seemingly happy to worry to flared-nostril anger as she laid it all out. Feuerriegel’s range of emotion throughout the episode was great, and by the end, a furious EJ was screaming and throwing glasses, much as we expected. And, which we also anticipated, as Eric was waiting to board his plane to Paris, France, Nicole (Arianne Zucker) showed up with Jude and told him he was the child’s father. There will be a lot of fallout from this public revelation and a lot of feelings to sort through.
EJ may not have just lost his marriage, he may also lose his job after perhaps being DA for about a day, because police commissioner Rafe (Galen Gerring) wanted to speak to him about possible fraud. We knew the baby switch bombshell was going to be messy, but it may take an extremely long time for the dust to settle. EJ had already offered Kristen (Stacey Haiduk) his DiMera shares in exchange for hiring Melinda (Tina Huang), so at the end of the day, he very well may have absolutely nothing. But he swore vengeance upon Stefan (Brandon Barash) and Gabi, so there’s definitely going to be a comeuppance, as Gabi’s move was unexpected. Stefan wasn’t too happy with his wife either, so they may also be headed for trouble.
Connie (Julie Dove) was revealed to be the one who killed Li (Remington Hoffman), as we saw her flash back to being in the apartment and stabbing him from behind. Fans got a treat when Li showed up this episode as a figment of Connie’s imagination. Her train of thought was all over the place as she gave exposition by talking to herself. She blamed Gabi for Li’s death, and Li himself had to explain that he was actually dead at her hands. It’ll be interesting to see the depths of Connie’s delusions as she wrestles with her justifications for murder.
While it seemed like he was messing with Jada (Elia Cantu), and he was, Bobby (Blake Berris) explained to her that he knew who killed Li but refused to say anything further. Later, via a flashback, we saw that when he first arrived in Salem, he happened to overhear Connie in the park boo-hooing to herself that she didn’t mean to kill Li. Bobby himself had to shut up Everett’s voice in his head, so if he and Connie end up meeting officially, they could become a lethal, unhinged couple that could pose great danger in Salem.
