Days of our Lives’ EJ Made a Deal With Devil Leo, While Rafe Got a Shocking Breakthrough

On the Monday, May 13 Days of Our Lives episode, EJ finally agreed to keep the baby switch secret, and ensured that Leo would do the same. Meanwhile, Rafe got incredible news that could blow a case wide open.

E.J. & Leo (Figuratively) In Bed Together

After Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) continued to remind EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) that revealing the truth about baby Jude would drive Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) back together, he finally acquiesced. In a touching moment, and after some internal deliberation, EJ handed over one of Jude’s stuffed animals to Sloan, signifying that he would keep the secret. He couldn’t argue with Sloan’s logic and would do everything in his power to prevent Nicole from running back to Eric. On the flip side, he also couldn’t argue with Sloan’s point that he wouldn’t want to be raising Eric’s child, even if she decided to stay with him. For a ruthless backstabber, it was hard not to feel bad for him.

So he went straight to Leo, who was still recovering from a drunken stupor. Leo didn’t remember much, but surmised that Nicole and Eric found him face down in the park and brought him to his bed. EJ had angrily joked to Sloan that he would kill Leo but was surprisingly calm when Lady Whistleblower awoke to find the DA at his bedside. Holding up his phone with a financial figure on it, Leo thought long and hard and finally agreed to keep the secret forever in exchange for the money.

There was a lot of powerful nuance in these scenes, and DAYS gets points for not spelling everything out. EJ’s agreement with Sloan, and then Leo simply pressing a button on the phone, illustrated that both men had decided to move forward with keeping the secret without actually coming out and saying it.

Rafe Got Game-Changing News

After going over cold cases with Jada (Elia Cantu), Rafe got a call with the lab results for tests done on Clyde’s (James Read) black book. There was a partial print from the late Gil (David S. Lee) on it, and the blood on the cover belonged to none other than Li Shin (Remington Hoffman). This news came in just as Kristen was trying to get information about Li’s murder from Ava (Tamara Braun). Not only is Rafe happy that his sister Gabi (ex-Camila Banus) may finally be exonerated, but Gabi’s possible return has been high on the viewers’ wish list.

However, it might be too soon for fans to jump for joy as they eagerly await a recast Gabi to come back to Salem. While the blood on the book clearly links Clyde to Li Shin, there is no evidence that Gil was the one who offed him. But, it’s a logical assumption that Li had the book on him when he was killed, and with the partial print evidence, it’s likely that Gil took it off him after he was dead.

This major plot point is a huge breakthrough in the case, and we’ll finally see some progress in freeing Gabi and perhaps taking Clyde down once and for all.
