Steve wants to turn himself in for helping to free Clyde on the June 21 episode of Days of Our Lives. Plus, Leo does a good deed, although that doesn’t change the fact that the jig is up for Holly and Tate.
Steve Makes a Questionable Decision
There must be something in the water in Salem as Steve (Stephen Nichols) is now the next one to make a hasty decision that could affect his whole life. First, John (Drake Hogestyn) wanted to turn himself in for his part in Catherina’s death, and now Steve has already hired Justin (Wally Kurth) as his lawyer because he plans on confessing to his part in helping Clyde (James Read) escape from jail.
We understand that it’s an effort to anticipate that the baddie will rat him and John out, and we also understand that Steve and John are invariably good guys who want to do what’s right. But come on, these are soap characters, and while the good guys are super good, they often have to do bad things to protect the ones they love.
It’s noble that Steve plans on keeping John and Ava’s (Tamara Braun) names out of things, but if (and that’s a big if) Clyde is going to throw him under the bus, he’s also gonna toss in John, and Ava for good measure. However, Clyde’s not stupid. He’ll sit on that information and use it later for blackmail purposes, so Steve attempting to head things off is a fool’s mission, and he’s only going to cause trouble for himself and his family.
When you think about it, though, he, John, and Ava keeping the secret could only cause more damage if it ever comes to light, so it may be a prudent decision, but not one that’s for the greater good. This confession comes from the guy who seemed like he was okay with killing Clyde, again for the greater good, so his new attitude is coming out of left field. We’re hoping that he and Justin keep things under wraps for now so they can wait and see what Clyde’s next move is.
Leo’s a Sucker for Young Love
Leo (Greg Rikaart) did a nice thing for Tate (Leo Howard) and Holly (Ashley Puzemis) while their high school prom was underway. Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa (Emily O’Brien) realized the two teens had gone missing and started looking for them. In Horton Square, they came across Leo and asked him if he’d seen the kids. He flashed back to seeing them separately abscond from the dance and even gave Holly a thumbs up, indicating that mum’s the word.
Unfortunately, the two parents figured out that the kids were at the Salem Inn and burst in on the two star-crossed lovers kissing in the motel room. Theresa’s gasp of shock was absolutely hilarious, making us realize that the teens will most likely be grounded until retirement age.
Points to Leo for shedding his scheming ways and trying to do a nice thing. However, his hesitance — as we needed to see him flash back to scenes that we hadn’t watched before — made Brady and Theresa realize something was up.
This whole Romeo and Juliet thing is a tale as old as time, and up until now, it’s been a bit of a snorefest. But seeing how the kids find a way to come out on top will be entertaining and a good opportunity to watch some great actors shine.
