Daytime Vet Tamara Braun Celebrates Her Birthday

Salem has been a bit rough for her most recent soap character, Days of our Lives‘ Ava Vitali, but soap vet Tamara Braun, also beloved for her roles as Carly Corinthos and Kim Nero on General Hospital, is currently celebrating a major milestone that should be marked by all.

Happy Birthday, Tamara Braun!

That’s because she was born on April 18, 1971, in Evanston, Illinois, which means that this gorgeous actress is turning 53 years old today! Braun’s career began with an episode of the crime series The Sentinel.

It continued with guest roles on TV programs such as City Guys, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Party of Five, The Magnificent Seven, Seventh Heaven, and Unhappily Ever After, as well as starring roles in feature films like Fallen Arches and Little Chenier.

In 2001, Braun was tapped to replace General Hospital player Sarah Brown in the part of Carly Roberts. During her tenure with the ABC soap, she was well known for her romantic pairings opposite Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Ted King (Lorenzo Alcazar/Luis Alcazar).

After exiting the role in 2005, Tamara Braun appeared in episodes of Freddie, House, Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer, and Without A Trace. In 2008, she joined the cast of NBC’s Days of our Lives in the role of villainess Ava Vitali.

That same year, she played Reese Williams on ABC’s now-defunct All My Children, where she participated in the first lesbian wedding ever aired on daytime. In 2011, she returned to DAYS, but this time she portrayed heroine Taylor Walker (a role previously held by actresses Katherine Ellis and Natalia Livingston).

In 2015, she was invited back to the NBC soap and found herself once again playing Ava. Two years later, she returned to GH, but rather than reprise her role as Carly, she was instead cast as Dr. Kim Nero. After Kim left Port Charles, she returned again to DAYS as a not-so-dead Ava!

Braun’s other acting credits include the feature films Limbo Lounge and Pretty Rosebud, the television movie Stalked By My Ex, and episodes of Saving Grace, Three Rivers, Castle, and Necessary Roughness.
