As Doug Williams and Julie Williams on Days of our Lives, Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes know a lot about soap opera secrets. The couple is spilling some of those hush-hush mysteries via their new website, and they’re using classic DAYS clips to tell their tales!
Bill Hayes made his DAYS debut in the 1970s as Bill Horton’s (Ed Mallory) cellmate, Doug Williams (AKA Brent Douglas). He made his way to Salem hoping to make some quick money only to fall in love with Julie Olson (Susan Seaforth Hayes). Art imitated life after the two stars fell in love off-screen.
The actors wed in 1974, and their TV counterparts followed suit in 1976. Last year, the Hayeses launched a website — Secrets of Soap Opera Lovers, which features interviews with the Hayeses as they talk about love. Classic scenes, which haven’t been seen in years, accompany the mini-interviews.
Now, the Hayeses have released yet another secret. This one is about the importance of having illicit adventures with the person you love! Over the years, Doug and Julie have had to engage in certain charades to solve whatever mystery is in front of them. Check out the clip here in which Doug is in a disguise as he and Julie talk about the Matsuo Geology maps and share some romance!
Off-screen, they reveal how they’ve shared many illicit adventures including a romantic interlude in Spain, lovemaking in their dressing room at the Burbank Studios where DAYS tapes, and even shared intimacy onboard an airplane! “If you ever get a chance, join the Mile High Club,” Bill Hayes says, referring to folks who make love while flying several thousands of miles in the sky. “We’re members,” Susan adds with a smile, noting the couple has a certificate to prove it!
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Salem, check out all the latest that’s been posted on DAYS spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.
