On Days of our Lives, Jennifer Horton Deveraux isn’t in Salem at the moment. Behind the scenes, her every-now-and-then portrayer, Melissa Reeves, is celebrating a major milestone.
Happy Birthday, Melissa Reeves
That’s because she was born on March 14, 1967, in Eaton, New Jersey, which means that this talented, beloved actress turns 57 years old today! Reeves’s career was jumpstarted by a small role in the 1983 film Somewhere, Tomorrow, which she followed with a contract role on the brand-new NBC soap Santa Barbara.
For one year, she was bubbly Jade Perkins (her brother Joe was accused of murder, which didn’t make life easy for her), and Reeves’s work earned her a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. In 1985, she joined the cast of DAYS in the role of legacy character Jennifer Horton. She would remain there for a full decade before making her first (of many) exits.
Though the part of Jennifer was subsequently recast, Melissa Reeves reprised it between 2000 and 2006. A third return in 2010 lasted until the coronavirus pandemic stopped the star from traveling from her east coast home.

Her other acting credits include the horror picture Summer Camp Nightmare, an episode of the horror anthology series The Hitchhiker, as well as Half a Dozen Babies, a made-for-TV movie co-starring her husband — fellow daytimer Scott Reeves (Steven Lars, General Hospital; Ryan, The Young and the Restless).
Scott shared a post on Instagram honoring Melissa’s birthday with several great pictures, which you can see below. He wrote, “I thank God every single day for sending me this rock of a woman who steadies me when I’m about to stumble, who clears my vision when I can’t see further than myself, who continually believes in me when I don’t. Thank you for putting up with me when I have a hard time putting up with myself. You are the BEST Sweet Mama to our grandkids and the BEST mama to our kiddos! You are my strength, my adventure, my compass, and my sanctuary. I love you so much [Melissa Reeves] and I hope you have the best day ever! Happy birthday wifey!😘❤️❤️❤️”
She has been married to Scott since March of 1990. They have two children: Emily Taylor (born June 23, 1992) and Lawrence David (born August 4, 1997). For most of the year, the couple resides on a farm in Tennessee, where they have started a coffee bean roasting business called Revival Roasting Company. The couple also happens to be proud grandparents.
