Days of our Lives Baddie George DelHoyo Celebrates His Birthday

While Days of our Lives‘ big bad Orpheus doesn’t have much to celebrate, what with being locked back up in Statesville and all, but luckily the same can’t be said for George DelHoyo.

Happy Birthday, George DelHoyo

And that’s because he was born on November 23, 1953, in Canelones, Uruguay, which means that this all-ways game performer is turning 69 years old today! DelHoyo, who was reared in Salt Lake City, Utah, began his acting career — under the stage name George Deloy — treading the boards in locales such as the Seattle Repertory and American Conservatory Theatre — both located in San Francisco — San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre and the Huntington Theatre in Boston.

DelHoyo’s first big break came in 1976, courtesy of the Broadway musical The Robber Bridegroom, in which he played Kyle Nunnery. Further success followed once he made the trek to Los Angeles and signed a contract with Universal Studios.

Though the majority of DelHoyo’s credits are TV roles — he made his screen debut in an episode of B.J. and the Bear, subsequently guested in series such as The Eddie Capra Mysteries, Hart to Hart, Galactica 80, and Too Close for Comfort, and found starring roles in mini (The Seekers) and max series (Star of the Family, Generations) alike — for many years his bread and butter has been voice-over gigs for various video games (Descent and its sequels), Hollywood film trailers, and network television promos.

Still, it’s his work on DAYS for which DelHoyo is probably best recognized. He originated the role of master mercenary Milo Harp, alias Orpheus, on October 20, 1986, and remained a part of the cast until April 23, 1987. Nearly three decades later, DelHoyo triumphantly returned to the soap — in what would presage several reappearances — though Orpheus’s efforts to revenge himself on a plethora of enemies failed to gain results.

DelHoyo has been married to actress Deborah May since August 27, 1983. The couple, who played spouses Ken and Terri Valere in an episode of the medical drama St. Elsewhere, have two daughters.

Soap Hub would like to wish George DelHoyo a very happy birthday.
