Days of our Lives Comings and Goings: Alison Sweeney Back As Sami

There’s casting news for Big Days of Our Lives: Alison Sweeney will return to Salem as Sami, but maybe not as soon as you’d like.

According to TV Insider, Sweeney is on set filming scenes as Sami. Of course, given the Peacock soap’s filming schedule, viewers won’t see Sami on screen until sometime in 2025.

Sweeney told the publication, “I was thrilled to be invited to return. I love playing Sami and I am always happy for the chance to come back. We always have to figure out scheduling and such, but if at all possible, I’m so glad to make it happen.”

It’s been two years since Sweeney has been on the scene at DAYS. As for how and why Sami returns, Sweeney teased, “I was interested to hear how and why they were bringing Sami back to town. With Sami, it could be anything.”

She had to make a big switch from doing movies back to daytime when she returned. After all, soaps film dozens of pages a day, so that was an adjustment for Sweeney, but since she’s had so much experience on DAYS after joining in 1993, she quickly settled into her new old routine.

“It does feel like a time capsule in some ways,” Sweeney said. “The dressing rooms, the photos in the hallway, the make-up room is essentially the same as when I started in 1993. And many of the same people still work there. We can joke about things that happened 20 years ago. It’s very nostalgic for me. So many memories.”
