Days of our Lives has had a singular sensation in Alison Sweeney and the iconic Samantha Gene ‘Sami’ Brady since 1993 and Salem has been the better for it. Certainly, the residents of that town wouldn’t believe that, but the loyal DAYS audience does as there is never a dull moment when Sami Brady is around.

Alison Sweeney’s Sami Brady Brings Sweet Chaos

Since the moment Sami was SORAS’d to a teenager, she’s done nothing but cause chaos and trouble wherever she goes, even without always meaning to. There is never anyone as determined as Sami, nor as cunning, but she always believes everything she does is for the greater good.

She could not let her father, Roman Brady (then Wayne Northrop, now Josh Taylor) learn that her mother, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) had an affair with John Black, so she had to try to sell the result of that affair, Baby Belle, on the black market. After all, it was to keep her family together and shelter her father from hurt.

Days of our Lives: A Touch of Needed Vulnerability

Sami also believed in her heart that she was the better woman for Austin Reed (Patrick Muldoon and Austin Peck), so she had to steal him from her sister, Carrie Brady (Christie Clark). When she told Austin he fathered her child, she didn’t think she was telling a lie because it was unfathomable to Sami that Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) might be Will’s dad because Austin was her fate, at least in her mind at that time.

Through the decades, Sweeney has brought a humanity to Sami through every dirty deed she has done. After EJ (then James Scott, now Daniel Feuerriegel)) was believed dead, when she got the slightest clue he might not be, she spent years searching for him and then nursing him back to health.

Alison Sweeney Makes You Root For Sami

When she broke Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) out of prison to re-enact Will’s (alleged) death scene, she did it so that it would cure Will’s amnesia. She could not have her son not remember his mother. She had already thought she lost him for good and couldn’t bear to not have him back with her completely.

When she exposed Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) affair with Xander Cook (Paul Telfer), she did it for her brother, Eric Brady’s (Greg Vaughan) sake. She truly does not feel that woman is good enough for her twin and never did. Sami may play dirty, but Alison Sweeney has always made us see what’s really going on in her character’s twisted little head.
